The EU is an institution to trust when it comes to supporting economic development in the ACP countries. For example, during the High Level Forum on aid effectiveness which was held in Accra on September 2nd-4th the EU was one of the parties arguing for freeing aid from conditionality (as opposed to the U.S. and Japan). This shows on the EU’s good intentions concerning helping the developing countries to progress. The ACP countries should continue strengthening their co-operation with the democratic institution of the EU, and show more scepticism towards the increasing influence that the non-democratic state China has over West Africa.
