It is high time someone gave it a serious thought - parts of eastern Congo should secede.
[ See Article ]
I strongly support this idea, it should be given serious thoughts, analysis and consideration. I believe broadly speaking secession of some parts of DRC will bring enormous benefits for their population. Some of these territories were never part of DRC in the first place; history tells us.
You and the author of this jealous comments will do nothing to spilt the great Congo. . I'm already getting sick of you two cocroaches who wish Congo didn't exist. First of all . Where are you two from? are ypu both blind and deaf? Havent you seen how the congolese support each other. Soon you Tsusi will see armangendon of your terroristic reign in the great lake soon. CONGOLESE from the KIVUS and in General do not , i repeat, do not need your help. we we will do it alone with those who wants to help us. I was born and raised in the city of GOMA. I'M A PURE EASTERN CONGOLESE and no one will do that. to congo. you two don't know anything about CONGO. Worry about your little countries and leave congo alone.
like to see you try!! See how many tutsi-rwandan, ugandan, general all this east africans with their american and european counterparts will get their heads slashed throughout the country. If your not from Kivu or Congo don't even question the bond and history that connects the country. It's obivous that the key players in this conflict will embark to great lengths to destablize our eastern region for their personal gains. but the lives of those dead are very much in the minds of the average congolese and soon this east africans who are playing with fire will soon get burnt. keep pushing the Congolese people.
Enough of your threats. Never again means never again. You will be running from your own ghost. This has nothing to do with ethnicity. Interahamwe pretending to be Congolese does not scare anyone. I wish you would continue pushing us with your genocidal threats. We will fight to the last drop of blood. If we are threatened or attacked, you will be chased by your own ghost. Mark my words and my works.
Here we go... who is pretending to be congolese . mark my words . the Tusti 's day will come. it's a matter of time, good luck to your die hard fight to the last drop of blood.
When the Americans will screw you , it will be your end.
Seceding from the Kinshasa administration is the only way out for the eastern Congo if it wishes to escape from the quagmire and miserly. Millions of Congolese from the east of that country have suffered terribly at the hands of its leaders from the kleptomaniac Mobutu who was only interested in looting his country to the quisling Kabilas who lost control of the security. The only few eastern Congolese who are interested in the status quo are some elite who capitalise and profit from the confusion. I stayed in the Eastern DRC for over ten years but you can't imagine how wretched the situation is. Nothing works. Its like time stood still after independence. Some will of course put the blame squarely on Uganda, Rwanda or the West. What they don't want to say or choose to conveniently ignore, is the fact that nothing in form of any development had been done well before 1996.
I agree with this article because of the following; Some of you who are writing from Congo- are strongly opposing the idea. But you seem to have somehow FORGOTTEN that most of the Eastern Congo belongs to Rwanda. When the colonial powers drew their maps, they subdued Rwanda by adding it to Zaire. So not only are you complaining about land that is not yours, You haven't studied your country well enough. Further evidence is the fact the most of the people in Eastern Congo speak a dialect of Kinyarwanda- suggesting that they are from Rwanda.
Lastly,if you want to continue seeing blood then fine; oppose the idea, But i advise you to just look a the geographical evidence and the fact that DRC is struggling anyway. Thus i conclude that i Agree with this article.
Rwandan Land needs to be lawfully and PEACEFULLY returned to Rwanda. Because in the Future Congo will have to hand it back brutally. SO hand it over in peace. I don't support violence, but the issue may in MANY years become a violent problem. AND BY THE WAY This is a 15year old person. You adults UP^^^ there who are arguing on a website- GET A LIFE!! and learn some GEOGRAPHY before typing to this article. Thanks and Bless AFRICA!
Since when most eastern congolese speak kinyarwnda language. where did you learn that. first of all. kinyarwnda speaking community is only 13 % of North and south kivu. the Hutu make up the majority of this kinyarwnda community. i was born and grew up in this region. the HUTU congolese don't even whant to be part of rwanda. it's only the Tustis who whant to take north kivu and anext it to Rwanda. and if it's not for the americans the TUSTIs wouldn't have any power in Ruanda anyways. where 50 % of your budget is money from american and your military is financed by americans. you are the one who consider east congo of belonging to Ruanda.
80% of congolese are BANTU people , 85% of Rwandese are BANTU people. and you TUSTIs are not even 1 % of congolese or even BANTU people . You are only 15 % of Rwandan people. When the HUTU were in power we had no problems with anyone. now that the TUSTis are in power we live in hell.
We all know that the only way for this region to be in peace we have to get rid of MUSEVENI , KAGAME and no TUSTIs will in power of these two countries.
I would like you to give me the reality and all the FACTS nad Nothing but the facts about eastern congolese being RWANDANS or this region belonging to RUANDA.
wE ACN EVEN GO TO THE REGION YOU AND I SO THAT YOU PROVE TO Me how this region is majority " TUSTI"
Look i don't know who u think you are but don't try getting LIPPY over the internet to me!
secondly, you are busy saying Rwanda is financed the USA, look at your country.. DRC has the largest resources in africa and yet the poorest in Africa!
Why don't u explain that?? then try biggin yourself up to me!
We still haven't seen any fact backing the assertion that parts of Eastern are Rwanda's previous territories. Again, this is pure speculation and jealousy. Managing Congo is possible if the west and their boys in Rwanda and Uganda leave us alone with leaders who have a vision for Congo. Instead, all those leaders are and will be killed for any bold move they take in a way to develop Congo. Lumumba,Kabila I are examples. Although I'm not a big fan of the young Kabila II, I predict he'll end up being killed because of the bold move he's taking to build infrastructures with China. Time will tell.
Elie.
Please .... Stop being angry... just prove how eastern congo belongs to Rwanda. instead of yaping around on baseless statement. We all know that with out the USa help all this will not be happening. Rpller up your sleeves and do your work by showing proof.
We are not talking about who has more resources here , because we know who does . and if you want to tall about who is poor or rich, congolese still have money than your dear Rwanda and will always do.
I see RWndans go to congo to get education, crossing the border in BUKAVU and GOMA everyday. that already proves that you Rwandans want to be part of congo , although congo is good economically. i don't see congolese going to Rwanda to get education. and it's because they is nothing we can learn from your country.
And please , do yourself a favor. stop hopping that eastern congo will seceed. that's your dreams. because they is no congolese thinking about it or would like to. espacialy eastern congolese don't know the word " seceed"
I will be waiting for your evidence. Good luck to your dreams.
where are from anyways. don't hide your country.
Diplomatie, best way out -- Well, it should have been tought about that way long before, diplomotie. It is never late to talk and act. Cudos to HE Dr. Charles Murigande et HE Mbusa Nyamwisi. It takes courage to stop heading in the wrong direction forever with excuses. The Hutus Interahamwe rebels in DR Congo have to be dealt with and it will be a step to abiding to the many agreements DR Congo signed with its sister neighbour but never implemented. Hoping that Diplomatie will prevail over guns,...
Its'a reality that DR of Congo has almost no responsable political leader at this time.
However, according to what I Know from this country (my dad's country) where I visited almost all current 11 provinces. people in this country will never let anyone move the DRC to secession.
Its true that everyone from the world pretend that Congo is too vast to be handled by a narrowed power from Kinshasa far.
Its also true that International community used all its resources to push DR Congo in drama of Secession like from early independance days. What we should learn from experience is that, about more than 10 years now this country is virtually and practicaly governed by International community in wish to balkanize it.
All the evidences are there and tools to get the country balkanized but it never happen. Why? Congolese has developed what we call there "Cause commune" a tought that for blood, or for bone our country will remain united and undivided. A recent survey from kinshasa, lubumbashi, matadi, Goma, mbujimayi and other large cities in DRC show that more than half citizen from congolese cities will freely accept to spend time as soldiers figting against any possible Secession.
To conclude, supporting Secession in eastern DRC could easely lead to effective fantom republic of province that will end up bu surrender itself for various reaso i have no time to talk about here. I know this country, I worked eveywhere and can pretend to have a word based on experience.
Supporting such kind of idea couldbe good for those working for some 'C' organization, but it effectivity will led to the bloodiest era our planet never ever had. what we forget or we miss to re-think is that Congo has been a power country in central and grand lac region and nobody apart God can predict the complete 'dead' of this rich and wonderfull country full of brave people but currently missing leaders as mistakenly wished by all those who accidentaly beleive to be ruling this world.
Instead of beleiving on possible secession in DRC after all those years offered to this failed option I will suggest AllAfrica to focuse thinking about "The Future of Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi" in next coming years as the poor Kabila reign will end up soon giving way to real and true mean original, educated congolese people.
The future should be scary for our friends originated from smallest Grand lacs' North leaded regimes. Its time to advise Rwanda, Uganda and uncertain Burudi to review their loosers position for the future of their citizen and our beloved Great lacs Africa.
Sorry for coockies my keyboard is frenchy now. Regards,
In regards to this article, The Democratic Republic of Congocannot be divided. The most essential thing at the moment is to change the head of the country, why? because the goverment is not able (or does not show it's self to be)to safely govern it's people.
Before to discuss the East of Congo it is important to look to the west of Congo. Take the recent report from United Nation about Bundu dia Kongo. The repport stated the govenment sent police to Bas-Congo, where they killed many innocent people in that area and thier bodies were found in a mass grave. This show the incompetencies of the goverment in it's governing of the west, let alone the east.
the fighting in the East of Congo started before Kabila become president, he has proven himself to be powerless in stopping this war. Therfore a new leader in desperately needed, through out Congo!
Those who thinks of secession; are they relly african? There leaders meet to discuss african union; and here people still think of secession. Does this make sense when we are trying to promote unification. Think twice before you talk of such. There are more constructive ideas than of those perpetual war that you are trying to promote. Let congolese live peacefully. Even though you participated in overthrowing Mobutu rule; it is not your duty to use it as passeport and keep troubling the country.
I am a Congolese citizen and writing to strongly reject the recommendations of this article suggesting the secession of Eastern Congo for reasons provided by the author.
Let me first point out that the conclusions of the author based on his or her premisses are illogical as well as irrelevant.
I will address later on the motives behind those recommendations that we've heard before but for right now let's focus on the illogical nature of the reasoning. According to the author, the Easten Congo should secede because the central government in Congo is failing to provide the basics such as security to its people in the eastern part of the country.
The solution to a address the inability for a government to provide basics to its people is in the dismissal of the government and replacement by a more competent government able to manage the country properly. It is a non sense to suggest secession as a response to a mismanagement of a country as a response to a non competent central government. The analogy to this recommendation would be to cut away a wounded foot that is not responding to treatment instead of considering a different treatment or doctor.
Now those arguments have been heard before and this is the true rationale behind the persistent instability in Eastern Congo and Rwanda as well as Uganda are instrumental in this mission of splitting the Congo:looting the country easily by creating micro states from the big Congo. Some neocons in USA did suggest this scheme in the past. Please take this to bank: it will not happen now and will not happen any time soon despite the efforts of Rwanda in particular to dismantle the Congo with the blessing of those well known western powers.
Rwanda should work hard like South Africa to heal their wounds from a troubled past of mass killings of tutsis by hutus and vice versa. The solution is not in branding a large part of its population as killers and keeping them out of the country. This was the mistake of previous hutus regime that created those frustations with tutsis refugees in Uganda and elsewhere who later on toppled down the hutu government in Kigali. The same causes resulting in the same effects, the hutus sooner or later will regroup/organize themselves and topple down the current tutsi government in rwanda.Make no mistake, there's no eternal winners.Life is cyclic and events repeat.
If leaving in peace with only two major tribes is not possible, maybe secession of Rwanda in two states,Hutu and Tutsi lands, would be appropriate according to your own theory. Congo has well over 400 tribes and cohabitation between tribes has never been a problem for those who believe, belong to and carry themselves as Congolese. There's no such a thing as tribal diktat in the Congo. Some people from a known tribe are Congolese on paper and have a different agenda from a neighboring country and are the main source of the current instability in Congo.
Let me repeat it, they will fail this time as they have failed in the past.
A note to allafrica. As a reader, I would suggest that you adopt a more neutral line while dealing with Congo. Most of the coverage on Congo is biased and leans towards Congo invaders and enemies from Uganda and Rwanda. You should not allow your tribune to such anachronic suggestions as dismantling an independent country for obscure reasons.
God bless the Congo and God bless Africa.
