The leader of Zimbabwe's largest functioning Church alliance says the country's main grouping of traditional Protestant churches and the African and global umbrella church organizations with which it is affiliated have been notable for their silence on the country's crisis.

The church leadership in Zimbabwe has certainly let the people down. They have failed in their role as the voice of the voiceless. Some of the church leaders are in fact active participants in the atrocities being visited on the people. I pray that the current crop of political, business and church leadership is the worst that the country will ever have. Going into the future can only improve.
