My Dear Fellow Campaigner,
I have just returned from a short visit to Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria where I visited CRAN Centre at Ikot Afaha Idung, Ukpa Eket with my brothers and sisters. I witnessed first hand the immense task of CRAN Centre. The number of children catered for by Sam Itauma are so many. The feeding time is total me hem as there are not enough staff to support the weak and vulnerable children to eat. On Saturday 29 August 2009, an 11 month old baby was tied both hands and legs and left to be eaten by soldier ants at Uqua Eket. Only through the grace of God the child was rescued and brought to the centre. The centre is severely underfunded and are in need of serious financial injection in order to care for these vulnerable children. The Federal and State government should join forces to care for the vulnerable children and older adults in our society
