Zambia cemented its democratic credentials on 30 October in an election that observers judged free and fair, even though a defeated opposition leader has disputed the results in what was an exceptionally tight race.

I'm with you brother, free and fair elections in zambia? no better joke then that !!! only that it suite all the donors countries that MMD and their Banda or Mwanawasa will stay in power and allow them to exploite the mineral rich zambia as long as the polaticians geting their cut but the zambians also deserve what they got, since they wont rise their voice and just exept the lies
Free and fair my foot! What is free and fair about an election where the director of the elections parastatal agency openly says named parties and their presidential candidates will never win an election during his tenure at the helm? Anyway, observers usually say what they are paid to say-remember, SADC said the zim polls were free and fair, even when the whole world saw the brutality unleashed on opposition supporters. Shame.
