The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) warned today that it is facing a serious funding crisis in providing life-saving aid to over 4 million people in Zimbabwe suffering the effects of a disastrous harvest, and it has already been forced to cut rations.

Not surprising, who would want to contribute to an International Food Aid NGO when ZANU-PF/Mugabe are looting international funds deposited with the RBZ?
If food aid plummets just as more people in Zimbabwe are becoming dependent upon it to survive means a lot of hungry, and angry, people.
Maybe it's the only way to remove ZANU-PF/Mugabe from power. When people are starving, they will vote with their fists - bullets be damned!
"Total Empowerment" to starve..........

FUSHEKE ICHO!! you have no intelligent contribution, kana iri fodya siyana nayo.
I am o tired of hearing of what Tsvangirai did but what does that matter Mugabe and the Zanu-pf has been in charge for over the past 20 years so the problems of Zim truly rest with them and no one else. So again be quiet about Tsvangirai or anyone else b/c Mugabe and the Zanu -pf have been in charge so blame them for Zim's problems.
As for the Ngo's well the people suffer not b/c of them b/c Mugabe and the Zanu-pf loot everything that is in the country and if the people are lucky they get the few leftovers. The bigger issue is the world is in a huge economic crisis which will decrease the food distribution...It is funny you love us when we give but the minute we pull back we are the devil, well just to let you know the devil is Robert Mugabe.
Icho... your comments show you to be nothing but a bigoted racist.
How can you fear the NGO's when they are the ones who are keeping half the country alive. Kick them out and many many many people will die. Critising them is just another attempt to find a scapegoat for Mugabes mismanagement of the Zimbabwean economy, and the situation that Zimbabwe finds itself in today.
Zimbabwe will not improve with Mugabe in power. It will only get worse. Plain and simple.
You must be one of the 170 ->The "smart sanctions" target about 170 of the country's ruling elite, including Mugabe and his second wife, Grace, and include a travel ban and the freezing of foreign assets.
l guess its time that all people complaining and support mugabe or tsvangirai should stop and behave. these two man have completely killed zimbabwe and l guess before you make a stupid comment think twice. zimbabwean people are suffering and we need to wake up and join hands to build our nation. we need prayers not politicians on this one. politicians are just greedy people who want power and control. we the mass we need food on the table. if you guys live in zimbabwe take a look at your neighbour and see what l mean. you will feel pity. mugabe is not right and tsvangirai os not right. they dont have people at heart these people. why should you coontinue opening your hungry mouth and shout at each other? relax macomrades soon you wont be able to shout because the little monies that you still have in your pockets will be wiped out. then you will see reality. l can assure you that that day when it comes you will never support politicians. grow up gentle man
I want you to know I am praying for the people of Zimbabwe including Mugabe and Tsvangirai. I totally agree that these two men do not have the people at heart here only their own agendas. Our mission will come in in a week or so to do a food drop to try to help the people of Zimbabwe just pray that Mugabe or his zanu-pf people not interfere with that and the people who truly need the food will get it!
You'd better make sure you run in through the right proceedures (ie give it to ZANU PF supporters only) otherwise the war veterans will be out to make sure the right proceedures are followed (as per last week).
Even the SA Govt. refuses to give promissed funding to Zanu/Mugabe, they will only give to aid organisations for distribution. Hows that for trust! They also will only deliver when a GNU govt. is in place, maybe that is why they are tring their best to destory it?
Charo, I think your frustrations should be directed entirely on Mugabe for all the woes Zimbabwe is experiencing. Had Mugabe's leadership not infringed on your rights, misused and misdirected the coffers of Zimbabwe creating no jobs, no foreign exchange, and through brutality, causing loss of manpower by people fleeing, you all would not be in the situation you now find yourselves. Mugabe has lead your country all steps of the way for almost 30 years and now finally into total destruction. Mr Tsvangirai has never been part of that government but only as an opposition leader who is now being drawn into a power-sharing government because Mugabe has assed everything. I greatly admire Mr Tsvangirai for his firm stand on what is right in not accepting anything offered that will further cause the demise of Zimbabwe. So I therefore find it unfair to put any blame on him.
Charo your frustrations should be directed squarely on Mugabe who has freely made every decision in the governing of Zimbabwe for the past 30 years which have led to the destruction that you are calling people to look around themselves and see. I greatly admire Mr Tsvangirai for the firm stand he has taken to do the right thing by not accepting any old rubbish that will further cause Zimbabwe's demise.
Charo:
Don't insult me by referring to "we" gentlemen as "comrades"! Put that Bolchevist bullcr*p in your pipe and smoke it! I am not a cadre OR a comrade!
Tsvangirai may or may not have the hopes, fears and dreams of Zimbabwe in his heart. But the fact is, we don't know, because ZANU-PF/Mugabe will not allow him to govern as the mandate of the March '08 elections showed. We'll never know if he could do a better job than ZANU-PF/Mugabe in bringing hope, health and prosperity to Zimbabwe.
Or...... if he could stop the spread of cholera, re-open closed hospitals and schools, or even feed the people of Zimbabwe!
Sadly, ZANU-PF/Mugabe act as if it is some great "insult" to them personally that the people have elected Tsvangirai in the March elections. That just shows how out of touch they are or just how much contempt they have for the people of Zimbabwe that they continue their "death grip" on power. ZANU-PF/Mugabe looks upon Zimbabwe as their "prize", something that "belongs" to them, and them only! How else can they ignore the people of Zimbabwe's vote in the March elections?
Yes, sadly the people of Zimbabwe are left to suffer, not only for the gross mismanagement of their country under ZANU-PF/Mugabe, but also from the fact that a democratically elected government is not "allowed" to try a different path.
A lot of "white" people here in the U.S. just elected a "black" man to be their leader, how many "white" leaders are there in all of Africa? There were no riots, no people were abducted by the police or FBI or CIA because of their preferred candidate. We did not have roadblocks in the middle of the countryside. We did not have "re-education" sessions in the middle of the night where citizens were required to chant Republican slogans all night. We did not accuse Canada of harboring and training Democratic cadres to attack Republicans. Our local water and sewer systems are still able to provide clean water to the citizenry. Our hospitals are still open and treating patients. Our schools are still open and students are still recieving their instructions. 40% or our population has not left the country. Inflation is under 231 MILLION per cent. Our government has not set up policies to accept the Mexican Peso as legal tender. We are not standing in long queues to access our money. Americans are not traveling to Canada and Mexico to buy basic foodstuffs. Opposition politicians have passports..........
Sadly, the time for "everyone to get along" is past. ZANU-PF/Mugabe have so poisoned the people of Zimbabwe that it will require Zimbabweans to "wipe the slate clean". Even ZANU-PF itself is disintegrating, they cannot even keep ZAPU in their ranks per the Unity Accords.
I am not happy that people are suffering and that even more people will be made to suffer in the near future. ZANU-PF/Mugabe has had 28 years of rule and every year, that rule becomes more despotic and more unable to meet the needs of the people they supposedly "govern". But who can plausibly defend the record of ZANU-PF/Mugabe?
Were people starving during the racist regime of Ian Smith? Were people unable to access healthcare under the racist regime of Ian Smith? Were children not going to school under the racist regime of Ian Smith? Was cholera a major public-health issue under the racist regime of Ian Smith? Were 40% of the population living in diaspora under the racist regime of Ian Smith? Was the economy suffering 231 MILION per cent inflation under the racist regime of Ian Smith? Were 40% of the population of Zimbabwe in need of foreign food aid under the racist regime of Ian Smith?
By ALL of these measures, the people of Zimbabwe were better off while they were denied basic human rights and personal freedoms by the "Government". How is it that a white racist can do a better job for the people of Zimbabwe than a black "Liberator"?
This is no defense of Ian Smith, but when the population had a higher standard of living under a brutal, racist regime than it does after being "Liberated", it says a lot about the quality of the 28 years ZANU-PF/Mugabe have "ruled" Zimbabwe.
Save the Bolshevism for someone who cares. I can see it now "People of Zimbabwe Unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains!"
Actually, not even Karl Marx could have said it better!
The beginning of the end of a nation. Humanity, apart from intelligence excelled above other species because it solved the food jinx by storing food. Energy can then be spent on creative activity rather than looking for food daily, like a Monkey does.
