The Democratic Republic of Congo is a sorry sight at the moment. A country whose chequered history is replete with rebellion, civil conflicts, rapacious exploitation of its abundant natural resources, gross human suffering and wholesale deaths now hosts, yet again, sordid experiences. Only concerted efforts by the international community can halt the deadly slide by a country that has clearly lost ...

Lumumba, one of the mendacious 'fathers' of African 'independence.' And a communist, to boot. There will be time to deconstruct Lumumba, Nkeumah, and others in the same pit of political rascals.
Rhetorically, the commonplace of "foundation" is the mother of slippery slopes, and thematically here, I deploy the same: the METAFOUNDATION of what you choose to call the "foundation" of the "Congo" troubles.
THE HORROR OF THE BELGIANS.
Kindest Felicitations.
Lumumba has never been a communist despite the american and western accusations to justify his murder. His main crime was that he was a nationalist who wanted a strong Congo nation. This is,in part, still the motivation behind the multiple invasions of Congo by the forces of evil. Now with capitalism showing its limits in the recent collapse of world finance, questions arise if this is the way to go.
"Fathers of the world".Why is it that before Western Europe and the U.S. came into our Houses we did'nt have mass killing and fighting 24/7 between the peoples?Think ?Think? But,after they colonize us, beat us up for centuries, and left with any and everything they wanted, why would we want a partner like that I'll never know. We're unsound. Why?Why? why? ,would we accept Sanctions of any kind from anyone.God gave us our land ,our country.Peace and love.Oweij Liebo U.S.A.
I think, now that we understand this Africa needs to stand together especially in a situation suc as this.
This is an opportunity for Africa to make amend. This war has to be stopped. Those rebels need to be kicked out and Congo badly need assistance from other african countries right now.
Mobutu left no army. Congo is now starting EVERYTHING afresh. It is unfair to be attacking them this way. I really hope that countries such as Angola, Nigeria, South Africa would opt for common sense and send troops in the Congo. Forget about the UN force. They are never in Congo to help congolese. Did you know that Congo was the first African country to receive a visit by a UN secretary? He actually died there in a crash.
The difference between this conflict and other conflicts in Africa is that this particular (current) one has no real conflict about it.
Lumumba was a "nationalist"? Gimme a break: What "nation" did he re-represent? He is as much a 'nationalist' as the confused Malcolm X, or do you differ?
Assume that he was not a Commie. That takes you nowhere, for Communism or Socialism or its epigoni in Africa, such as Nyrere's bunkum doctrine is theoretical gibberish and practical poison.
I am not clear about your allusion to the current problems of "capitalism." Whose capitalism? Remember, there are different models or mappings of "capitatlism."
I hope you don't construe the casino in New York City as "capitalism": the casino caused the "housing meltdown" in Main Street America.
To borrow a well-known trope, capitalism has been hijacked by the degenerate gamblers in New York. It is time, perhaps, to 747 Gamblers Anonymous to the rescue.
To return to the problematic of Lumumba, I say: mendacious father of 'independence' from a despotic Belgian life world.
Cheers.
Guess who laid the foundation for Congo's 45-year old civil war? Western Europe and the US when they poisoned the popularly elected Lumumba in favor of the Western world's preferred stooge - Mobutu. How quickly we forget that once you put a yoke (as they always do to their slaves) on a poor and innocent country like that, you condemn them to perpetual conflict to which the instigators will pretend as if they are sending peacekeepers to separate the warring factions by engaging a tiny country like Rwanda to continue to wag the big and mighty dog known as Congo. The same game they are currently attempting between Nigeria and Ghana. Our public needs to understand global real-politik of divide and conquer b4 we start to criticize Mugabe regarding his commitment to wrest control of his people's land from the minority group of westerners that control more than 80% of that country's arable land.
