Crude oil smuggling continues unabated in the Niger Delta in southern Nigeria, spurred by chronic under-development, a disaffected youth, and increasing lawlessness.

For Nigeria the cause of under-development is bad leadership and inadequate representation of the populace. Under-Development breeds both economic sabotage like oil smuggling and social problems such as prostitution, armed robbery, desperation and other vices.
The only magic panacea to bring about sanity and growth is a change of attitude from our leaders and the desire to invest on the people instead of taking the money out of the country to enrich other nation. Most European nations do not have the kind of resources we have in Nigeria but depend on the money stashed out by our leaders to grow their economy at the expense of Nigerians and this is the crux of the matter.
It bothers me and should bother every Nigeria about the scramble by our leaders to buy a piece Europe or US but conversely the foreign Conglomerates simply take away from us with minimal investments in Nigeria. What does that say about our leaders? Lack of vision and love for their country.
Nigeria needs a major radical reawakening for a last time to finally get it right. We are at the threshold of success but stalling for a dynamic and constructive selfless leadership to take us over the hump.

Nigeria needs a major radical reawakening for the last time to finally get it right. It does not have to be by blood shed but feeling for a change to throw out the kind of leaderships that have dominated our political and military scene. We are at the threshold of success but stalling for a dynamic and constructive selfless leadership to take us over the hump.
