Glen View 5 Primary School in one of Harare's high-density suburbs is deserted. Classrooms are empty, desks and chairs are piled up in corners and instruction charts are peeling off the walls. Yet, the school's third term is in full swing.

Be Free,SADC leaders(except Botswana) should be asked your question because they are oblivious of the fact on the ground.All they are obsessed with is COMERADESHIP.Sick bunch they are!!!!!!Did you observe one thing people out there? Botswana seems to be one of the better managed african countries apart from South Africa who is new under Black rule(watch and see).You do not need to be a rocket scientist to know why Botswana is in this position.Think!!!!
ss_3conteh, your allusion to race as a fact of good gov't dilutes your comments. One of the goals from people like you, should be to try convince people that Mugabe is bad, without alluding to saying white is better!! In south Africa, all resources were targeted to whites, blacks were left to fend for themselves, black education was bad..no money spent on black education. But now, the majority (black) of South Africa has to spread the country resources to all people, including whites who were the oppressors.
The argument that I see on this blog that somehow colonial or aparthied days were the best is a faulty one and lacks real knowledge. Maybe for a few, but the majority suffered. Never judge a country by how well 5% or less of the population. And that is what you just did
This is a very sad situation for the people of Zimbabwe. It is very sad to everyone that the school system has crumbled to its knees. Mugabe and his cronies are all responsible for all this mess. I am a teacher from zimbabwe and i taught in the zimbabwian school system in 1987-88. I was one of the luck ones to escape after being attacked by Zanu PF thugs for being an opposition supporter and l lost 3 lower front teeth. I wonder when the world is gona work up to see the genocide taking place in Zimbabwe.

To all the people who try and support Mugabe by making all the excuses under the sun just to cover his crimes, you are only doing it to save your own asses. You make the rest of the world sic. How about just one time in your pathetic lives you think about others. if that is too hard to come to terms with, think about the kids. every young child should have the right to an education yet all the ZANU thugs and followers deny them of that, all because of what? because of their selfish and greedy ways.
