The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP) and the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), have petitioned the United Nations Secretary General, Mr Ban Ki-moon, requesting him to "withdraw your recent appointment of former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as UN Envoy for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) because of the widespread allegations of high level ...

The UN? What a joke! I noticed that the moribund interest groups did not mention Anan. "Allegations" also hang around his neck?
As for Obasanjo, the dude needs to stay out of politics. If he stmbleed in Nigerian politics, it would take a miracle for him not to creep in the vast and complex arena of African politics. Go home, Oga!
Best Regards.
Obasanjo does not what to be honour because he never care about common man and also selfish, all that matter to him is only his family. If any man does not for human being like him whose right will protect then? Seyi
THE UN WORK IS NOT FOR NIGERIA,AND THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF UN DID NOT ASK NIGERIANS TO RECOMMEND OBJ FOR THE JOB.I DO NOT SEE THE SENSE IN ASKING THE UN TO REMOVE HIM. AFTER ALL, HE WAS PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA FOR TWO TERMS,AND YOU DID NOT REMOVE HIM.
I just left a comment on another post on this site saying Obasanjo cannot succeed in Congo because he has not shown the respect that he should show the people of Congo for electing their governement. He has gone to the rebels and behaved before them as statemen. There are no two DRC.
It shows how corrupt he can be. He legitimised Nkunda's unjust war by declaring that Nkunda has legitimate concerns. It looks as if he intend to deal with them as if dealing with two rebel groups seeking power or disputing plicies.
The DRC governement was elected by the people and people should be shown resoect for that. And let me remind you that Nkunda is also one of the people accused of crimes against humanity by the Internation tribunal for Human right (Haye).
How would you go and honor his troops? Obasanjo should have known better having been a head of state himself. You could just hear Nkunda's excitement about him for one to know what he really can be up to.
