The probe into such allegations is welcome for we do not want accusations without basis and evidence of arguments. The 2500 “violent political activists” intercepted should be given a fair SADC trial. However we should also be aware of matters of national security. Botswana has been bombarding Zimbabwe’s head of state recognised by ALL political parties here and Botswana’s frustration in failing to remove Mugabe from power has been subject of amusement here at home. All what Botswana has been venting about does not improve our economic situation for we damn know how we have been economically segregated to push for a Mugabe ouster. By denying the "Elders" entry to Zimbabwe shows the guilt that Mugabe has. He is unable to let three "wise" people to come in and assess the deteriorating situation and come up with some suggestions and aid for the starving masses. It is wonderful that Botswana allowed Zimbabwe to investigate the so-called plot. Botswana has nothing to hide. Contrast that to Zimbabwe that bans journalists, international aid workers, election monitors etc.

Zimbabwe owes a huge debt of gratitude to Botswana. During the Second Chimurenga, Botswana was the most exposed of the front line states being as it was entirely surrounded by SA, SWA and Rhodesia and yet it did not hold back from giving refuge and logistical support to Zipra.

Now in Zimbabwe's time of need it is providing the moral and political support needed to bring about change. This was shown by the warm welcome given by the citizens of Harare to Ian Khama when he attended the signing of the GPA in September.
