Sorry wont do it. In India where less than 200 people died as a result of terrorist attacks, the Interior Minister resigned for not foreseeing the attack and not doing much to arrest the situation sooner. In Nigeria where more than 400 lives are already confirmed dead within an hour of rioting, nobody is taking responsibility and/or held accountable for such loss of innocent lives, just like nobody cared when gas pipelines exploded killing the poor saps scooping the gasoline. Given that religion was used to protest against this Jos election result, it is an open secret that the Politicians used their old tactic of inciting the area boys to riot, therefore, the politicians involved in this particular campaign and election should be held accountable. To those lambasting the messenger – Iwu for the sins of the politiciana – should realize that INEC has got nothing to do with electoral violence and rigging when it is the politicians that are hell bent on winning by any means necessary. Until we begin to hold the instigators accountable for their wrong-doing, more innocent lives will be sacrificed at the alter of politicians' greed and desperation. If the Presidency and the police would not do its job by not searching for, find and prosecute the politicians involved in this particular riot, then, we shall hold the President accountable for this loss of innocent lives. For instance, what has the govt done to fence off the pipelines to prevent another gas explosion, especially as the Xmas holidays approach when people are more desperate? As the old medical adage says, “prevention is better than cure”. The govt should not wait until tragedy strikes b4 it anticipates risks to the public just like the President has not done anything to fix the Niger Bridge until it collapses with people on top of it. It would be a gross negligence if the President knew of this danger now yet does nothing at this stage to prevent the danger it poses to the public.
