and until then, Mugabe's thug will rape and pillage the nations coffers, and the poor will suffer. There's a reason why Zimbabwe is the 14th most corrupt in the world.
what we "Africans" MUST realized is that there's greed up in the Air by some of this racist and neocolonist who don't want to see any good leaders for Africa. Let's take one, the rescent president of South Africa in which the true behind his dismisser as president was NEVER told. Africans should STOP playing with fire and face their reality or else that countinent "Africa" will Never develop. And if you ask me why; that's just how they racist and neocolonists of the western world want it to be. They want Africa to be their bread basket and dust bin. If these same people happen to win in Zimbabwe, they can doing it to ANY Good African leaders by doint to them the same thing or worst; and what that tells you? We Africans are FOOL. Also, it means will Africans are still face with the darkness and don't able to make better decission for our countinent. If that happen what a shame for zillion of years to come!!!!For this sake; Please remember good African leaders like Oboti, Julius Nyerere etc who such a thing or worst have happened to them. Let's stop being FOOL of ourselves, AFRICANS!!! Africans MUST dig thoroughly into anything and fine the truth brought about our countinent that's/are brought to us by these racist and neocolonists. My last question's this: where is the patriotism for Africa in terms of development, education, love for each africans, all the positive sides? Have you ever seeing a positive side of an African in a Western World? Have you? Though there are many, you will NEVER see such aa outstanding comment giving from the Western World about an African if NO European is involve. Please let's becareful of what Africans do to each other.
Your brother in Christ and Allah,
The talk about Ian Smith and his Rhodesia subjects does nothing to Zimbabwe nor it's future. Few people in Zimbabwe can relate to Ian Smith and his regime. Most people who were in their twenties or less during his regime either do not care who he is or view him as an oppressor. Hey, "Rhodes" I hear you, but I really do not care about Smith. Smith claimed once that entire villages would attend his funeral, that usual wishful thing! Alas, Smith died a lonely man in a nursing home in SA. With Smith, the question of race, land, imperialism always comes into play. I would rather focus on what is happening now. Smith in all his rule never at anytime recieve the majority vote. Exclusively, all people who voted for him were white at less than 200,000 of that group. That in Zimbabwe would be running in fifth place. Let's not talk about that dead "Ian Smith" white anglo" dictator
Even Field Marshall Idi Amin had "professors" defending him to his last days as the Life President of Uganda, all in the midst of decay and death. Whatever these people profess, it must be sick and grotesque stuff.
There is decay and death all over the world.
And your point is?
Professors have been heavily involved in giving economic advice to the President in the USA and the PM in UK. Result: The current worst financial meltdown in USA since the World War 2.
We have western and Asian economies now in recession - widely believed to be a depression.
Do you suggest that village idiots were advising President Bush - so a to avert economic disaster?
Well. Maybe you have a different take on things: Whoever - professor or not - that advised Al Hajji Idi Amin was bad. And you have no quarrels with the West and their current economic woes. Certainly you are not calling for Cde Mugabe to go for a total "regime change" in the Western countries ...
It sounds to me like a case of inferiority complex.
Chokora, you really have no idea do you. Do you live in a cardboard box? Actually, I wouldnt be surprised. Have you not seen that there was an election (with no violence) in the US which saw the opposition (OBAMA) elected as the next President. Is this not regime change? Is this not an example of the people not being happy with the current government and using their democratic rights to vote for change? Why is this difficult for you? It all comes down to the people wanting a change of leadership. It happened in America, why cant it happen in Zimbabwe? Why doenst Mugabe know when to stand down?
"Mugabe Must Go, Says West"
You have enough problems of your own. Have you solved your bigger financial meltdown woes yet? What do you know?
Shut up West, Says Africa.

We Zimbabweans are not proud of the economy but we are very proud of Mugabe for standing up to the greedy west and kitchen boy blacks like you! You are still very blind BOY!
and for beating his own people into submission to win the run off election? How about for beating protesters too? Sure is lots to be proud of
Author: kubatana6 "We Zimbabweans are not proud of the economy "
Companies failing and going bankrupt. People becoming homeless by the millions. And millions of people being laid off. People becoming homeless by the millions. Diseases galore and more people who can't afford to go to hospital for treatment. More women getting into prostitution for survival.
Does that sound familiar? It is not about Zimbabwe but USA today.
Get a perspective.
The economy of USA is in just as much trouble and it is NOT because any foreigner applied any economic sanctions.
The economies of the UK and the EU countries are in a recession too. Same goes for China and Japan. And Australia.

--- Zimbabweans are in the same morass as the Americans and the Europeans and the Asians.
Zimbabweans have nothing to be ashamed of. Nobody anywhere in the world is happy of their economy.
Look at it this way: The economies of the west are in trouble - even BEFORE anyone (not even Cde Mugabe) applies any sanctions on them!
Chokoro... more lies I see...
How can "People becoming homeless by the millions" be true when there are only 744,000 homeless people. More lies and exageration.
The economy of the US is no where inear in as much trouble as Zimbabwe. Do you seriously think that unemployment in the US is anywhere near as bad in Zimbabwe? Or that inflation is anywhere near as high? Come on...
You say the wests economies are in trouble... if are you seriously saying the you would rather be in Zimbabwe, please stay there. You are welcome to swim in your own filth.
This post shows the level you have broght yourself down to. That you can term Mandela, Tutu, Annan and others Benjamins is a disgrace. I suggest you stay in the Ivory Coast and keep your vile, ignorant opinions there.
Now we know where and what he is!!!!!!! Sylvia?...is that you? It's nice to see that you've dredged up yet another client for your one (wo)man Ministry of Misinformation. What's wrong? Did they finally chase you out of the Sierra Leone forums? I hope you're not being paid in Zim $ or you won't be able to afford the new edition of "Sophmoric Paranoid Political Rants for Dummies" or whatever little green book it is you use.
Mugabe has failed his people, he has failed africa and he has failed his conscience. he has reduced the state to zero! the only cash left for zimbabweans now is for poor old robert and his sweet babe! this man has developed a new axis of evil and it is time to blow his head off...and i mean it, blow his head off!!! there is no need to think thabo mbeki or anyone can resolve the situation. mbeki was a sham to the hope of the mandela revolution rather than a glory. so those bought-for-a-penny slaves of mugabe who still use the word 'hero' when referring to him, go hide in the cave else your heads too will be blown off. the real heroes are those who were in the revolution with him in the 70s and 80s whom he later murdered!!
They sent tainted blood and HIV The epidemiology of the century Ravishing every country Where are Brown and Condie?
Hark back to the Red Indian? And the ravishing of their nation Given blankets to feel warm Small pox made them mourn The die With no outcry
Consider the experiment way back when Syphilis was given to Black men Was there is food aid to Zimbabwe? Now cholera rampant in Harare The monster Even crossing border Thoughts that make you go huhhhhhh

Shouldn't we expect "allAfrica" have a policy against such sentiments? Is it OK to write similar statements against President Bush or any leader of the EU country?

The Herald (Harare)
3 December 2008
GOVERNMENT has strongly warned those behind the violence perpetrated by rogue soldiers who have been beating up illegal foreign currency dealers and looting shops in Harare since last week saying the coincidence of the incidents and the call for a nationwide stayaway and demonstrations raises a lot of questions.

This is the last episode for Zim, soon Mugabe will face the same fate as Cuscesco of Romania did.
What a Crock! Protect the citizens until Comrade Bob tells you to beat the hell out of them. The military in zimbabwe are just as crooked as their leaders and the government. They can wear the uniform, but they really aren't much of a fighting force, unless it's old ladies, or small children. SAS was real military.
Which government are you talking about? A government run by the Herald will never be a serious government worth anything. Military is now as poor and reduced to toys which can be used to flatter the Mugabe regime. Its now free for all.
Mr defence minister time is the only thing holding your rag tag army and their so-called generals.Believe me very soon all of you will be finding holes to hide.
Big, big rubbish: how many batallions do you command, dude? So-called "generals"?
Just ask the the sprinter MT whether the Generals are so-called? Go ahead: ask him. You won't find him, for he knows that the Generals will defend the people of Zimbabwe from silly young Turks like him, a Turk spinned by the West.
1) "Big, big rubbish" - clearly an incomplete sentence.
2) the "," before dude is not required.
3)"So-called "generals"?" is also an incomplete sentence.
4) You've also flip-flopped in your capitalisation of "Generals". Some consistency please.
5) "Go ahead: ask him." An improper use of a colon.
6) "wo'nt" should be written "wont" as their is no appostrophe.
7) "spinned" should be spun as you are talking in past tense.
I'll give you a mark of 30% for your post. Some work is clearly required.
Love you.
PS dont bother trying to correct my spelling etc, (I noticed that I spelt there as their) - I'm not the one claiming to have perfect grammer, spelling and punctuation like you are. Loser.

Shallow dude, how many battalions does Mugabe command?. Tsvangorai is the incumbent Prime Minister, he is not a young turk. Obviously you have taken this phrase from somewhere and used it out of context, or you have no idea what it actualy means.

Jallowlaw must not hide the fact that the generals are too busy minting money across the border in Congo ! Why should they defend the nation when lunatic Mugabe is unable to pay their salaries regularly and thus allow them to exploit the rich mineral deposits in Congo! It's decades now that Zim soldiers have forgotten how to manipulate guns; they are rather expert in manipulating foreign currencies!
Zimbabwe's government is by no means perfect but they are also the victims of an international smear campaign and sanctions that affect the PEOPLE not the so-called targets. I'm sick of the ignorant mob psychology of all these people bashing Mugabe as though getting rid of him will save Zimbabwe from the vultures waiting to pounce on the corpse that MThead's antics are going to turn our country into. The bottom line is the west wants a dummy to rule so they can move in and loot wholesale under the guise of 'helping'...
This is how communist governments fall in the end. The leaders first nationalize all the means of production, using military force, in order to set the prices of goods and services to "fair" levels, completely unrelated to the evil, capitalist laws of supply and demand. This, of course, results in everything ending up at one of two values... "worthless" when there is enough to go around, and "priceless" when there isn't. As people casually consume and dispose of the "worthless" goods and hoard the "priceless" ones, more and more goods end up becoming "priceless" as the lack of commerce leads to shortages that cripple the nationalized means of production, even more than just being nationalized in the first place. This self-reinforcing process continues until the middle class is completely eliminated (as is the goal of communism,) and only the military and the leadership have enough goods to go around; but the fact that neither of these actually produce goods themselves rapidly accelerates the shortages. In order for one to survive, the other ends up having to go, and that's when things get violent.
The military have the guns, but the leaders have the ability to organize the military, and any group of unorganized soldiers can easily be taken out by half as many organized ones. The end result is the military remains loyal until they themselves feel the hunger as the supply of goods continues to dwindle, and only then do they begin turning on their leaders. Not that it helps, in the end, because they've already destroyed the infrastructure that once sustained them, but at least it gives them something to do until they either starve to death or find some capitalists stupid enough to enslave them under their bourgeois rule once again.
I think we all know the source of African problem - colonialism, now globalization. Yah! Mugabe stands to be blamed but he is not the source. How come that Africa can not stand alone? How come that the West can not leave the poor Africa alone. If Africa was liberated from the West the Zimbabwean problem could have long been solved between Zimbabwe and neighbours. The Zimbabweans would not be hungry and suffering from cholera while Botswana and South Africa are sit and look. Why not work out a strategy to trade with Zimbabwe without using their valueless dollar but just exchanging goods? Why do we rely on monies that are created and controlled from the west. When are we waking up in Africa and come up with our own creations?
Yeah right! As its the west feeding and medicating Zimbabwe more than there neighbors this would have happened much sooner if the west had not been suppling the food and medication.
I cant see mugabe making it through this crisis, if he does Africa has once again failed to sort out its own problems.
You'd better hope you're right. The west will be destroying itself soon, and the flow of food and trade from the "colonials" will drop lower than they ever possibly could under any sanctions. If you're right, no doubt Zimbabwe will instantly prosper, with rivers flowing with milk and honey, manna falling from Heaven, etc. If you are wrong, well, I hope you enjoy the grave you dug for yourself.
How will Zim prosper? You will find it the complete opposite as the money donations get smaller because mums and dads around the world have less money to donate for Aid!

As governance in Zimbabwe continues to crumble and the United Nations reports nearly 14,000 suspected cholera cases, Western powers have stepped up their rhetoric against President Robert Mugabe and are lobbying African nations to call on him to step down.

You people(Brown,Rice) don,t live in Africa and as such have no right to speak for us on how and who we need as a leader.Rice is following the script prescribed by her masters,Brown is a liar in that he and his other fellow European, and American Govts started the problem with the imposition of sanctions on Zimbabwe. If Mugabe must go it has to come from the Zimbabweans and not you the thieves that are only doing this for your own selfish interests. There is no such thing as white owned land in Africa, the tables will turn soon in other countries of interest e.g Kenya,South Africa,Namibia e.t.c.You people came to Africa from your cold west initially pretending to be friends, alas, the wind has blown and we can now see the hen,s anus.
I thought the people of Zimbabwe have decided duringthe last election............
My fellow Comrades, leaders of Africa, we need to take the responsibility and set examples to convey to the blue eyes devils of the west that we are not barbarians. We must get raid of them and take control of our own destiny Africa must look beyound their noses and have the ability to smell the scent of an rotten egg. Especially, the ability to recognize and smell the aroma of the blue eyes devils even before he stept foot on the continent.
shut up ( broun, rice ) whites they took our land who gave them that land? we have to take our land back, how many blacks own land in europe? africa we must wecup zimbabeweian people wecup this is your land you have to fight for it. standa with mugabbe he is fighitting for you, TUTU he is such stuped old man, he dosent know anything southafrica people they have the same problem
Tell you the truth, I could not care less about how many blacks own land in Europe. I don't care how many blacks, Indians or Chinese are Members of the Uk Parliament if they were voted into that position by the electorate. I dont care how many Lords and Dames or Sirs are people of colour, they probably deserve the title. I do care when a Nation is starving, ravished by disease, all due to one man. So I suggest you wecup (?) and do something to help your fellow man. Support Mugabe if you will but stop the starvation, the poverty the spread of disease, the beatings and abductions, the murders in the name of politics. Speak out against the MDC if you desire, this is your right, but do it with your mouth, not at the barrel of a gun or with a fist. Let others have the same right as you do to support whom they will with out fear that their home will be burnt in the middle of the night, their mothers, wives, sister, daughters raped, abducted to be used as play thing for the mob. Finaly I do hope that South Africans do not have the same problem as Zimbabweans, I hope that the govenment there will never restrict the free press, will never allow the essential servises to corrode and become defunct, will never abduct thier citizenry because they disagree with their political belief.
In March, Zimbabwe DID make the choice, at least those that were not bullied, threatened, beaten and killed when their intent was choosing a government NOT under Mugabe. However, a "do-over" was mandated because the outcome was not favorable to the gangsters tha didn't want to lose powerand contro over what is now little more than a dying land due to lack of care or mental capacity that understands loyalty and cooperation builds a fruitful and financially productive nation. Killing all of those in opposition would leave just the Mugabe faithful cabinet members and the rest without the courage and conviction to do what is best for their people and their country. So tell me, Mugabe supporter, obviously you are pleased with the way the "zimbabwe democratic process" has formed and developed the country and people into a shining international example of conversion from dictatorship to a government by the people. As an observer it is very sad that those that selected that government (NOT Mugabe) are either dead, dying or hiding. The country is in such a state of flourish that every country is contemplating how to create an association with Zimbabwe and inquire how other leadership models can aspire to reach such depths of dispair and apathy through brutality and intimidation to make sure it never happens again.
Granted this style of leadership currently exists north of India, but that government never claimed to be a democracy or a government of the people. Maybe your support needs to focus on that style of government. I'm sure your loyalty and single sided vision of life, right and wrong and complete disregard for human rights will be welcome.
The problem with Mugabe and his cycophants is that they lost the prominence they used to enjoy before Mandela and South Africa took the mantle. It is a loss of regional prominence, stupid.
Many of us live or have lived in Africa. Mugabe has betrayed the cause; he has lost the moral authority to talk about white racism let alone use it as an excuse to stay in power while destroying African lives. All Africa (and the rest of the world) celebrated when he was, with the help of many white people including Jimmy Carter, handed the country but now there is nothing to celebrate, not with all the morass.
How did a man with so much "education" fail to function in the rough tumble of community of nations and races ?
Zimbabwean people have already spoken: they rejected Mugabe. It is time for Mugabe to move on and save any modicum of good legacy that he was once played a prominent role in.
The only consolation is that many African countries have gone through similar growing pains that Zimbabwe is undergoing now, when dictators who had never known power couldn't imagine vacating the political stage, until they were inevitably forced out.
Mugabe must and will be forced out.
"The problem with Mugabe.."
There is NO problem with Cde Mugabe.
Te problem is with the know-all imperialists - who can't solve their own financial meltdown mess before they interfere with the people of Zimbabwe.
Viva Zimbabwe.
After reading all your posts you must be one of Mugabe's lackys, full bellies, full bank accounts living the life of Riley. Viva Rhodesia....it was never as bad as now.
Well the West can say what they want, its because they have their agenda, we have a humanitarian crisis in Zimbabwe, a crisis exacerbated by a sanctions/embargo environment. Go to Zimbabwe today, look at all the water purification equipment, its all made in England,Germany,USA and need parts from these countries to maintain them, even water taps are manufactured in Great Britain. All these countries have declared sanctions on Zimbabwe, how on earth does the West expect such machinery to function in a ten plus sanctions environment which affects even the basic of needs, medication and food. They say the sanctions are targetted at Mugabe and his Ministers yet we ee with our own eyes how they are affecting the GRASSROOTS. Please World leaders do not be hypocrites, dont use sanctions on the country to attempt to unseat Mugabe!
You are talking from the point of view of being one of Mugabe's cronies. Mugabe has no solution to this country neither will he manage anything for this country. Mugabe is a failure he should be teaching school kids that is what he is fit for. The international community should be worried because Mugabe is a threat to humanity which includes people like you who blindly follow him and benefit from food packs OK.
Is it beyond anyone's imagination to speculate that the 'Murderer-Thug-Thief' MUGABE would introdice an 'epidemic of cholera' into ZIMBAVWE's population to further his warped-sadistic goals??? Apparently not - for you are still reading this and pondering MUGABE's acts-of-depravity!!!
It,s all too clear that you don,t know what you talking about. If you talk about warped- sadistic goals and acts of depravity then you should be talking about the criminal western Govts that,ve used these principles against African Govts that,ve refused to toe their line,go back to the history of Africa, then you,ll know what we mean. This is a fight hinged on history not just right now,Mugabe will not live forever just like everyone else but history require,s of us to speak out against injustice always coming from one quarter(European Imperialists) against Africa. The ability to arrest these trends will go a long way to stabilizing and giving Africa a say which has been robbed of us for so long that we lost count. The west should concern itself with it,s myriad of problems and leave us to our fate,we owe them nothing. Mugabe might not be perfect like all of us are, he,s still better than the sellouts and collaborators(Mandela,Tutu,Annan,Odinga,Khama) that are supporting colonialists and thieves imperialists coming back to invade Africa. The times have changed, this is not just about Mugabe, it,s about every African long deprived of his birthright by virtue of criminal aliens coming from the west to steal, kill, loot, rape and commit genocidal acts on the African people, history told us that and that,s what we based our facts on, not your lying and distorted press(bbc, cnn, voa, fox) that feed just lies about Africa and all it represents. We owe you (imperialists) and their tools(collaborators) nothing for the stand we take.We will peacefully tell you thieves to leave our lands and when that is not effective then we proceed to doing it the jungle way and without apologies. The imperialists deserve no respect, because they don,t give one,no mercy because that,s not in their dictionary, peace, for they don,t wish for it.
As a Black person born and living in America, I must say that I understand all your concerns toward the West. Who are slave-owners to tell Africans how to live their lives, right? Especially since there are so much turmoil in America and Europe, too. And it's absolutely true that Europeans, everywhere, destroy all that they touch. They purpose "goodwill" while fattening their own pigs! Just take a stern look at the "rich" in America. The whites have taken and taken, using credit to make the rest of the world think they were some kind of Gods, now the entire country is screwed up. Just because of the "greed of the European male!"
Please don't misunderstand my blog. There are wonderful people in America, of all races, but because of the greed of a few, the entire world economic system has fallen. These "criminals," being white, rich, and powerful, will not be charged with any crimes, either! But, had they been Blacks or "African Americans," their black butts would be under the jail.
Black Americans would love to migrate back to an African land, but not with all-the-time-turmoil that goes on! I know some of the history of Mugabe, but history be damn; why would an African brother allow so many of his "own" die just so that he can remain as president? When I see my brothers and sisters dying in Rwanda, Darfur, Kenya, and Zimbabwe, I want to kill, myself. Bashir of Darfur, and Mugabe of Zimbabwe, in my opinion, should pay for the deaths their actions have caused. Simply, someone needs to walk up and put a 9mm slug in the right temple...for the good of the people.
Africa will never be strong until there's enough food, water, and shelter to go around. These things are so simple to come by and yet they appear to be the most difficult for Africans.
Anyway, I've proposed by email to President-elect Obama that he starts an all-African-American "roaming" force to really extend our help in Africa. So far, the aid given to Africa by developed countries doesn't appear to have had any longterm effects.
But first, if the people of Zimbabwe elected a new president, Mugabe should step aside, or be pushed by the "blow" of lead." Certainly, though, Africans should take care of their own internal affairs...but without so many thousands of my brothers and sisters dying. Is Mugabe worth any human dying of cholera?
Caltow (African-American) America
Who ever becomes the leader of Zimbabwe should solve the land issue. The white people to be precise,(colonialist) took the fertile land, and cattle from the Blacks at gun point and bundled them into trucks and dumped them in disease infested areas. The armed truggle was born mainly to correct the land imbalances in zimbabwe. Mugabe came into power for about 20 years, he forgot why there was an armed struggle in the first place. Then the MDC was born, when Mugabe realised that he might loose the elections, he said to the poor land hungry Zimbabweans go to the farms, without proper organisation. Then Zimbabwe's troubles began. Now that the farmers have won the court case this is not the final solution. People of Zimbabwe, Southern Africa and the world in general should realise that The Land issue has to be sold once and for all. If it is not solved History will repeat it self in Zimbabwe over and over. The white stole the land belonging to the blacks, the blacks have stolen the land from the whites, the white farmers have worn the caught case, will the land go back to them. Did the court review the Zimbabwe armed struggle, when the the court was deciding the case? ON what grounds did the court base their decision? I am anti Mugabe do not get me wrong, I was born and I grew up in Matabeland, it pained me to see local people being treated as second class citizens by some white farmers. Off course
Mugabe failed to address the land issue properly but the idea was good no doubt about it. What ever happens in Zimbabwe after Mugabe, the land issue should be treated with respect. Every Zimbabwean, black or white should be treated equally socially and economical. This is what I wish to see in a democratic Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwen politicians have failed the people of Zimbabwe, the west and southern african leaders. Before the politicians or world leaders open their mouth about the Zimbabwean land , they should review the Zimbabwean History. WE ARE FED UP, BECAUSE SOME LEADERS DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT, WHEN ADDRESSING THE ZIMBABWE ISSUE. All parites involved the black Zimbabweans, the white Zimbabweans etc, should get together and solve the LAND PROBLEM. I do not think the court of law will solve the problem. The land issue requires common sense not the courts. If the issue is not handled with respect, the next generation will take arms hence another land struggle again. South Africa is sitting on a time bomb, land problem, its a matter of time. I hope the leaders have a forsight and they are working towards a peaceful solution.
To all of you that are crying Mugabe.., Mugabe.., Mugabe.., Mugabe and Mugabe, my question is, have you forgotten the whiteman that quick? The whiteman is only making you to believe that President Robert Mugabe is a dictator because he is not going with the tone of the West anymore. There is a time coming that you will wish for Cdr Robert Mugabe to be around, but it will be too late. I can remembered during those days when President Robert Mugabe was the darling of the West, but now, he is a devil because he seized the Zimbabweans farmlands From citizens of the West. To the West, you go hang, President Robert Mugabe is not going anywhere. He will stay here with us so as to become the king of Zimbabwe and the entire Africa because he is fighting for the liberation/redemption of Africa. He will stay here and give you pepper. Moreover, in my whole life, I have not heard of any Cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe history, but the moment the WEST started dividing food, Zimbabweans are suffering from Cholera epidemics. Is this designed to tarnish Cdr Robert Mugabe reputation that indeed, he can not handle his own country affairs. Shame on you the WEST. You are noted for injecting innocent Libyan kids with the AIDS virus. You will get your pay for what you continued to do to Africa.
Bottom line: it is a new day in Africa.
No more shall we listen to lectures from Europeans about "rights".
Imagine: Europeans waxing in rights discourse, when the colonial denizens in their capitals are treated like sub-humans.
As for Rice and Brown, who cares about these representatives of imperial capitalism? Rice is a neo-con: she is an intellectual buffoon, in my view. I think she studied international relations, specializing in the then Soviet Union.
Well, did you hear her talk of "regime change" in Russia when the silly Georgians attacked the Russians.
Why? Because she knows the consequence: the Russians would have told her to go to hell and, if I am not mistaken, they did, and she did NADA.
What matters in these matters is power, MILITARY POWER. When you hit them back, imperialists take a wide berth from your shadow.
Why, by the way, did Mandela give up the bomb? Why? Mandela is an African traitor.
Nobody would mess with a nuclearized Africa, and don't even say South Africa did not have the bomb, because she did. Mandela, the hypocrite and tail of imperialism gave it up for Benjamins and Western "honors."
Now, I am not advocating for a nuclearized Africa. Au contraire, I am wickedly and self-interestedly advocating that the West give up its nuclear weapons. That is its ace.
Finally, the West---given its diplomatic and financial dombolos---has nothing to say to VIGILANT AND ENLIGHTENED AFRICANS, AND I INCLUDE THEREIN, THE HAMMER OF THE IMPERIALISTS: Cdr. MUGABE.
Of course, that is my opinion; you are free to disagree, but disagree with arguable reasons, not infantile rants.
"Mandela is an African traitor."you say.
Big call. You are talking about a man who spent most of his adult life in prison because of his belief in the principle of universal sufferage. A man who for many many years led Arica's oldest liberation movement to finally overcome the staunchest most entrenched racist minority government on the continent. A man whose dignity, intelligence and inner peace has won the respect of people the world over. A man whose moral authority is such that it has enabled a bitterly divided nation to come together with immense pride and affection for their country.
Against all of that; you chose to call him an African traitor because he and the ANC government he led chose to dispense with the nuclear weaponary developed by the the previous apartheid regime and to direct that money into schools, hospitals and housing for the masses. That is a poisonous twisted little world that you live in. No wonder you idolize the likes of Robert Mugabe!
I don't count Mandela as an African traitor although I'm finding myself forced to defend Mugabe's stance. People, including leaders, do things differently. Mandela did nobody a disservice when he did whatever he is now being criticised for. You can't win 'em all. Some of my people are among of those that died at the hands of 'gukurahundi' BUT that does not mean our country should be recolonised; that is why the unity accord of 1987 was so important although the wounds still hurt. We still need to be united in Zim. Not everything that happens here in 2008 should be dictated by past conflicts of leadership as the only ones who suffer are the angry innocents. Let's keep a collective cool head and remember where the real problem lies - in the 'divide and rule' politics of western imperialism.

ZIMBABWEAN President Robert Mugabe appears to be losing his 28-year iron grip on the military, with protests by soldiers this week raising fears that a revolt could be brewing in the armed forces.

Zimbabwe is facing widespread protests by discontented soldiers feeling the heat of the country's collapsing economy.

It always bothers me to see Journalists from the so-called free press society use pseudonym names on a subject that is widely known in Zimbabwe. A power house like IWPR naming names like Professors Jonathan Moyo and Heneri Dzinotyiwei, than only to “Coup” out by using pseudonym is disgraceful and dishonest! The Professors mentioned are good defenders of freedom and there is no reason to hide. I just do not understand why IWPR has to hide. What IWPR doing is constantly used by Zanu-pf propagandists to smear their opponents. SHAME ON YOU IWPR FOR UTTER UNEHETICAL VALUES.
Hmmmm. Let's see. I, W, P, R. What could it stand for?
Perhaps, I(nstitute for) W(ar &) P(eace) R(eporting)?
Gee, maybe you could help me out and explain who this fellow RBZ is that everyone's so mad at?
DL, RBZ simply means the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. RBZ is headed by Dr. Gono. Now that I have not used pseudoynm names, does the actions of Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) justify their behaviour? How credible is IWPR? The issues described in the article are just a copy cat article that have been published by real names on this website. I would even go further that their article is on the inferior side that's the reason they have to hide! A reporter with a pseudoynm name is like a Palestinian suicide bomber who claims to love people just before he commits mass destruction. What IWPR should have done is be open and engage in discussions, not wear a musk in the name of the open western society free press lies! For the record IWPR failed to predict that the war in Iraq was based on false information. What is their credibility?
Hear hear hear My Son!!! You are on the right track, mwana we vu.
On the editorial comment, I say it sparks of grandiosity: a couple of disgruntled members of the armed forces, and you see "power sharing." They will be crushed, these thugs; undisciplined members of the armed forces of Zimbabwe, and it is or should be axiomatic that the army has no business in the business of politics.
If the silly and moribund band of marauding gangs of criminal 'armed' bandits (See the newstory) have gripes, then military protocol determines the course of action they should take: raiding money changers, legal or nay, is not inscribed in the code of military ethics.
'"it is or should be axiomatic that the army has no business in the business of politics." - absolutely correct, which makes it all the more regretable that the Security Force commanders have adopted such partisan positions in the current political impasse.
I want agree with you the way these unhappy soldiers are dealing with this is very wrong but when enough of them gets upset there will not be enough enough protection for Mugabe so if he is wise he will truly form a unified government with the MDC otherwise he could be overthrown. Where is the care for the millions suffering here? It is all we here about Mugabe and Tsvangirai but they neither one are suffering and have three good meals a day. It is time that they let their ego's get out of the way and care about someone other than themselves.
jalolollo whatever, which world do you come from? You seem to have no idea about the topic(Zimbabwe)discused here.If you knew anything about Zimbabwe then you would know that the ZNA is very much involved in politics. As a Zimbawean who has suffered at the hands of Mugabes regime I kindly ask you, if you are not Zimbabwean, to stay out of this affair. Its only he who carries the burden who knows how heavy it is.
This is only the start of things to come jshallow. Change is coming and there is nothing you can do to stop it because good always triumph's over evil. The question you should ask yourself is, are you going to run like a little b**** or will you give in and say he made me do it and i was forced to do it?
It seems to me that the world has gone mad by just standing by and watch Mugabe treat Zimbabweans in a new form of concentration camp! That mad must have eaten poisonous mushrooms...i hate him!!!!hmmmmmmm!
Praerfully very soon the people will be free of this lunatic who calls himself president of Zimbabwe. The days for Mugabe is very short so he and his followers are very worried b/c their future looks very scary and many will be put on trial for all the bad things they have did. Mugabe and his wife are living with the best of everything while the people of Zimbabwe are dying daily. Of course people are tired of Mugabe's crap....
Shallowhead, this is just the beginning. It starts with a couple of soldiers rioting.. and will grow. The military will spend more and more resources policing itself and will eventually implode. The voice of the people cannot be silenced forever.
I was in south africa before 2 years as volantuer and i had the chance to know men from zimbabwe, who black immigrants , very good men and who were suffering from regime of mr.mugabe. I am studying in university UNISA and i wanted to visit zimbabwe and work in education system of this beatuful country, but how a man can go to Mr Mugabe's country?? how many people there need our help and how many people are in western world are dreaming to visit and live and offer their knowledge but Mr.Mugabe has different opinion!!!
GRAMMAR LESSONS FOR JALLOHLAW:
An article cannot "spark of grandiosity". You should say "smacks of"
"a couple of disgruntled members of the armed forces, and you see 'power sharing.' "
That sentence makes no sense. Try again.
"They will be crushed, these thugs; "
Should be "Those thugs will be crushed"
"and it is or should be axiomatic that the army"
You're missing commas. ".. and it is, or should be, .."
"Axiomatic" should only be used in relation to mathematical or financial terms. Next time you use your thesaurus to find a fancy word you should look up its proper meaning and application.
That's just the first paragraph. The second is equally riddled with errors which I can't be bothered to correct.
A rather poor show from someone so highly critical of others' grammar. :-D
Phiri, you are right that both Professors are open defenders of the right of ALL Zimbabweans to live in peace and dignity. I admire their stand on principle, and to defend ALL Zimbabweans, I think Prof. Moyo is particularly admirable for not selling out his liberation-era ideals for Zimbabwe for the cancer than ZANU-PF/Mugabe has become. I may not agree with him, but I admire his principles.
However, you have to look back and see how Zimbabwe has arrived at (and under who's guidance) it's present circumstances.
Just 6 months ago, clean water was being provided (sporadically), inflation was out of control (but it wasn't 231 MILLION percent!), Zimbabwe had a election and the "people" neglected too vote as ZANU-PF hoped/expected. Hospitals were still open and treating patients under "difficult" circumstances, women were giving birth, diseases were being cured by doctors. Schools were still open, also under "difficult" circumstances, but many students were not recieving a proper education by then.
Anyway, now that ZANU-PF/Mugabe cannot even control/rely upon the Army? Yes, the elite forces will stay loyal, but how many are there? Will disaffection in the ranks hamper their operational abilities? Can ZANU-PF/Mugabe truly expect a relatively few corps of elite troops can control the entire population of ZImbabwe? What effect does the revival of ZAPU have on the morale of the elite units in particular and the whole Army in particular? I'd say the situation for ZANU-PF/Mugabe has grown precipitously more delicate..........
When it ends, as it inevitably will......... I can only hope for a minimum of bloodshed - Zimbabwe has a lot of healing to do in the years ahead. I can only hope that the international community will fulfill the unspoken promise to help rebuild Zimbabwe after ZANU-PF/Mugabe has fallen and a new transitional authority be established. The future success of Zimbabwe is at stake, the world will need to invest significantly in order to restore the economy, health and education in ZImbabwe to attract the diaspora back home.
That's a BIG job, but it begins when Mugabe leaves or abdicates power - it has to happen now. ZAPU is splintering off ZANU-PF, MDC-T shows no signs of budging and MDC-M won't agree to join any government without MDC-T to cover it's backside politically - so they can't be accused of selling out to ZANU-PF!
The situation in Zimbabwe is getting worse and it's even starting to "effect" elite ZANU-PF families. They HAVE to know the end is near - I just wonder what their bunker mentality will be, will they insist on leaving schorched earth, or are their those in ZANU-PF that see a future without Comrade Bob or any of the politburo leading a new ZANU-PF, committed to an equitable and certifiable redistribution of land. That's probably their only alabi at this point, "we did it all to redistribute the land" excuse........
Juhlman - your post hits on an important characteristic of this type of crisis; namely whilst things appear to be moving slowly and inexorably in any particular direction, the underlying forces may in fact be very finely balanced and in fact events may unfold with ever increasing speed. At this stage, I cannot see Mugabe out of power within the next 6 months but there is no doubt that the degree of unpredictability has increased markedly in the past 6 weeks and anything could happen. If I were to bet; a declaration of a state of emergency and rule by decree is more likely than not to happen; with Mugabe still the nominal head of state.
Jullhman, I agree with your analysis and Katz’s comments as well. I emphasis on openness and transparency in media writing on Zimbabwe because of the prevalence of conspiracy theories in Zimbabwe. Part of that, is because Zimbabwe is in a crisis mode. There is so much misinformation that everybody else who is not Zimbabwean is viewed as an ally of the Western World. Supporters of Mugabe see everything as a conspiracy to topple the Gov’t. Most Zimbabweans are very loyal to their roots and that is fine. However, Zimbabweans need to open up to what others are saying about the situation inside Zimbabwe. The current situation in Zimbabwe demands that people question their loyalty and focus on facts regarding the Mugabe regime. Ethnic loyalty within the Army is the only thing keeping Mugabe from being removed from power. A coup in Zimbabwe, as bad and controversial as that sounds maybe the best that would happen to Zimbabwe. The results would be unacceptable both in SADC and the rest of the world and many Zimbabweans would die. Only then would a true search to restore the country take place. But again this has been the road to true democracy in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Mozambique, DRC, Tunisia, Algeria, Rwanda, Liberia, Togo etc. Do countries learn from other countries, no evidence that is true? If Zimbabwe did learn from its neighbors, we would not be having the problems we currently have!
Using pseudonym protect harm from Mugabe and his henchmen. If you do not understand that you had had your head in the sand for too long. Hardly thoughtful. Do not underestimate the power of a desperqate leader to hurt oponents and their families
Is AllAfrica a medium for foreign imperial masters to propagate their designs for Africa?

There are growing suspicions that the looting by soldiers in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare, may be an elaborate ruse to allow President Robert Mugabe to declare a state of emergency, suspending the constitution and, with it, all civil liberties.

iam glad zapu has finally seen light and abandoned the butcher of zimbabwe. multiparticism is the only way to ensure people are not short-changed by our politicians. tsvangirai must also not give an inch against mugabe or listen to those who think compromise with the demon mugabe is the only way. at least now he is clicking. mugabe does not need a yes man. time and again he threatens his opponents with violence(a return to the bush) tsvangirai would do no worse than respond in kind. call for help, it doesnt matter its from the west. after all zimbas are now residing or somehow reliant on the western countries for their livelyhoods, so why not recorgnise their generosity. yes tsvangirai believes in the west, jsut like mugabe believes in the chinese, who ironically believe they best economic interests are best served by doing business with the west. so clearly mugabe is the fool. the people of zimbabwe have had enough of this man and his evil party. he drags us all to the past. wake up zimbas!!
Mugabe already rules by decree. He spits on the constitution and there is no rule of law in Zimbabwe. He doesn't mind if the elderly, women and children die horrible deaths if he maitains his absolute rule. His word is meaningless, even to himself. Such a man is capable of anything.
That's exactly what Mugabe is up to, a state of emergency! I don't know if some Zimbabweans had already started to belief that the 'Mugabe worshiping soldiers' can rise against their boss. It's also not true that soldiers are receiving only zw$500,000 from banks. No one knows how much they are paid as they now get the money at the barracks. But no one should underestimate the extent to which Mugabe can go to please the soldiers and stay in power. I am sure very soon all the soldiers and policemen will receive part of their salaries in foreign currency.

Well at least Morgan isnt responsible for the murders of an estimated 20,000 Ndebele people and over 130 MDC supporters during the recent elections as well as the current Cholera crisis, forging election documents, election violence and intimidation, thieving from donations from charities to fund his lavish lifestyle, selling out to the chinese, the removal of basic human rights, - freedom of speech, freedom to campaign, freedom to demonstrate and at least Morgan didnt need any violence or intimidation or forced voting to win an election. The only way Mugabe could win was by running against himself.
Lets see how it plays out however I would put nothing past these people especially judging by their behavior in the past. It shows the desperation of the man and how little regard he has for the citizens of Zimbabwe he is supposed to represent.
I want it clear that I am not speaking as a Mugabe fan BUT all this dirty politics in the name of sympathy for the people of Zimbabwe is the height of stinking western hypocrisy. The so-called 'targeted sanctions' are only affecting the ordinary people of Zimbabwe to pressurise them to reject Mugabe. Nobody really gives a damn about the people of Zimbabwe. In any country at least half the people are not very bright or politically conscious. This is the half that MThead appeals to - those who can't think beyond their stomachs. If they did they'd realise that before long, once MThead has his way, they will be reduced to the very beggars they are afraid of becoming WHEN AMERICA OWNS US! America is killing people of colour under any and every pretext - and often NO pretext - and pathetic zimbos think Amerikkka will help...?
"I'm not a Mugabe fan but"
Seriously you have been brainwashed by Mugabe to think that the America will ever want to own Zimbabwe. Talk about your fixerupper though. As for "Americans is killing people of colour under any and every pretext - and often NO pretext" - So is Mugabe!
That's right, blame America, that's what thinking people need to do right now - that way Zimbabweans have no personal responsibility for their situation - and no agency to affect a way out. Good old Americans - damned if they help and damned if they don't - what a relief to have an entire county that is blameworthy regardless of the course they take. No one cares - right? In case you failed to notice a former American president - who cares - was blocked from entering Zims borders... and in case you failed to notice ... a new American president was elected - and he's black - better develop a new theory - or find your knees and stand up for the civil rights that cost so much to secure
To lair007 - you should probably change your id to liar007! I'm sure that the innocent Iraquis are very grateful for the ameriKKKan donation of nine years of bombing, weapons testing and looting of their national museum. I'm equally sure that the Palestinians must be eternally grateful for the decades long fiasco that AmeriKKKa donated to them. The DRC must really love AmeriKKKa for its donation of the blood diamond wars. Angola must have loved the thirty year long donation of Savimbi - just what their country needed. Africa must be really grateful for their exclusion from the UN security council. AmeriKKKa's magnanimity is endless - the world must be truly grateful. I pity poor Obama - he must be really grateful that he has to carry the can now for this crock of SH**!
By the way, the people of Diego Garcia must be truly thrilled about the theft of their home country/island. Also how come nobody cares about the 8 million dead in Congo but Zimbabwe is all up in the news - AmeriKKKa is really doing great there... It's even going as far as poor people being robbed by the UN troops - truly confidence inspiring... People in Zimbabwe are being starved to death by sanctions and that warrants interference in our government but millions people being shot and blown up in Congo doesn't merit any mention. Thank you AmeriKKKA! The UN troops in Somalia that participated in the killing of Black children has not got much mention except in the New African... Interesting!
You mean beside the money donated by the US and the rest of the western countries to feed and give medicine. People like you are a joke, i bet you have never donated money to anyone let alone another country in your life.
Even with no sanctions the world would still have to donate money to keep Zimbabwe alive, because Mugabe and regime are the perfect example of the worlds worst leaders\dictators, that can take a prosperous country and totally destroy it through there greed and mismanagement.
Pray tell how a travel ban on Mugabe is pressing the rural peasant to vote against him. I thought this was where Mugabe's suport base was, not MDC. Your comment that America is killing people of colour does not warrant the attention you ask of it. It requires one word. Obama!

You say that the people of Zimbabwe are victims of western propaganda, but that's impossible. Isn't that a case of the pot calling the kettle black?
First of all, finding the truth and getting the news is just too expensive in Zimbabwe.
But more importantly, under Mugabe, there is no free press either domestic or international, because he doesn't allow any opinions except his own. Anyone who disagrees is labeled an imperialist who wants regime change. (By the way, there's nothing wrong with regime change if it's done freely, fairly, and peacefully through the ballot box... something Mugabe is too scared to let happen!)
People are not free to read what they wish, and even if they were, there's no independent sources for them. So the people can either form their opinions solely from the facts on the ground that they see everyday, or from the horse manure that Mugabe peddles in the Harold and other government mouthpieces.
In summary, the people of Zimbabwe cannot be influenced by western propaganda because they don't even know it exists. All they know is the propaganda that is spoon fed to them by wise Daddy Bob.
I see my comments have disappeared from this page? Is there something wrong with disagreeing with the Mugabe bashing?
As Mugabe likes to remind us, under Ian Smith, whites ate steak while blacks ate sazda.
What he does not like to see mentioned is that, under Mugabe, Mugabe eats steak, the other "war heroes" eat sazda, and everyone else in Zimbabwe eats dirt.
