International lust for the enormous mineral and resource riches of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) abetted by international indifference has turned much of country into a colossal "rape mine" where more than 300,000 women and girls have been brutalised, say activists.

Gatekeeper,
I feel the rage in your voice and rightfully so! What Africa really needs is a voice of conscience, a voice that matters to the world, rising up and pointing out the injustice. As the people of Thailand have just proven, the will of the people can be imposed.... at least to some extent. At least this last few instances of violence in the far East of the Congo has made it to the major news broadcast, however everyman's interest at the moment is on his own pocketbook..
I don't know what anyone else's browser was doing as they read this very sobering article, but mine is full of advertisements for coltan ridden laptops and cell phones. Somewhat disconcerting. Meanwhile, my prayers are with the DRC, and those of us sitting with the burden of indifference.
Greed, the motive for horror! The world's indifference to the rape of women and children sicken's me. The Hague is useless, they know this is happening and does nothing. The International Community should be put on blast each and everyday until people really get the message that this is not acceptable! How can african leaders allow this and call themselves men. Africa should rid itself of these demons. Now I see why people will take horrific chances to leave these places because they are not safe. Killing their own people, raping, spreading disease, heartache and pain for such little gain. Only the man on top will gain from this and when he is finished stealing he will leave his country in a hellish state. Africa has to many "Generals"! One day the African people will rise up and say enough and just die for a just cause to rid themselves of evil! Someone should start a campaign of e-mailing the companies that help sponsor this evil minute by minute and hour by hour and day by day. Send pictures to all major news agencies until someone pays attention. Contact the Major religious groups and show the horror to them. I hate reading about Africa because it has become an evil place! God is watching and God is not pleased with this situation. Pray for africa. Right now aftica is hell on earth!
