Am I understanding this correctly? Is ZANU-PF/Mugabe actually ASKING the international community for $450M(US) to feed them? That's too perfect because....... I thought Comrade Bob said that Zimbabwe would "Choke" under all the food aid they were recieving at one point previously. Who do they think they are kidding? Who do they seriously think is going to contribute $450M(US) to ZANU-PF/Mugabe? The same ZANU-PF/Mugbabe who looted $7.5M(US) from an NGO dedicated to those afflicted with TB and HIV?

Actually, not even the Chinese or Koreans are coming to ZANU-PF's aid at the moment are they? The Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Malaysians, etc. are NOT going to come to the rescue of ZANU-PF/Mugbabe's ill-thought out "Look East" policy. The Saudi's & Iranians have issues of their own at this point with the price of oil dipping below $50.00(US) p/b.

No one WANTS to rescue Zimbabwe at this point! The US never had any real interest in Zimbabwe other than peace and democracy. We really don't have any interests there, South Africa is THE acknowledged power in Southern Africa, the US DOES have interests there! The Chinese are more concerned with their own population after several major earthquakes, a food-safety scandal and an approaching winter.

ZANU-PF needs to seriously consider the thought of it's long-term prospects in light of what happens if Comrade Bob should unexpectedly die.....he IS 84 y/o after all!..... No one else in ZANU-PF has the stature or can keep Zimbabwe under their grip without him! Chinamasa? Yes, he is ambitious and ruthless enough, but he lacks Mugabe's "gravitas" in the region versus a Tsvangirai so he connot wield the same power as Mugabe. Moreover, his time as President "might" have come as inheritor of Mugabe's "legacy" in ZANU-PF, except now that sort of endorsement is less than worthless.

If ZANU-PF wants to be a relevent political party in the future, they need to let go of their grip of power now and become a revolutionary opposition to a MDC-T/MDC-M coalition government in hopes of regaining a majority someday. Let Zimbabwe cleanse itself of the post-liberation era and dream new deams of the future - let those of ZANU-PF who still truly believe in the ideals of ZANU-PF reconstitute themselves as the former communists did in the former East Germany (I mean, ZANU-PF is at it's heart a marxist-liberation movement, n'est pas?).

If certain pragmatic leaders within the lower echelons of ZANU-PF were to revolt and join MDC-T or even a "transitional authority" with the NCA, they would preserve the heritage of ZANU-PF as a movement of liberation. If the NCA was confident enough in a transitional agreement with these groups within ZANU-PF, then MDC-T would be compelled to join such an authority. The "transitional authority" would gain international legitimacy by the participation of MDC-T and ZANU-PF could thus "cleanse" itself of the excesses of the post-liberation hierchy - including Comrade Bob and the Politburo.........

MDC-T would be wise to abdicate leadership in a true transitional authority and pledge to work with it to improve the lives of ALL Zimbabweans, let ZANU-PF respond in kind - who can do more for the people of ZImbabwe? The international community has already signalled that they want nothing to do with Comrade Mugabe. There are "BIGGER issues to be dealt with than ZImbabwe, but we really don't like what's going on......" kind of vibe.........

Maybe the solution is really to put the NCA in charge as "sovreign" of Zimbabwe? Let Comrade Bob retire and flee, but ZANU-PF and MDC-T and MDC-M agree to subjugate themselves to a true transitional authoity.

1) Let ZANU-PF (without Mugabe or the Politburo) join a "government of transitional authority" with MDC-T/MDC-M. 2) MDC-T, ZANU-PF & MDC-M will convene Parliament 3) Parliament will approve an "Emergency Decree" approved by the parties and by the SADC, AU and UN. 4) EVERY, IMMEDIATE and CO-OPERATIVE effort WILL be made by ALL the parties to provide clean water to the people of ZImbabwe 5) EVERY, IMMEDIATE and CO-OPERATIVE effort WILL be made to reopen the hospitals and associated healthcare infrastructure of Zimbabwe. 6) EVERY, IMMEDIATE and CO-OPERATIVE effort WILL be made to reopen the schools of Zimbabwe and continue to provide a valuable, measureable quality of education for ALL Zimbabweans!

But Mugabe, by his actions and inactions, has stolen the respect of the people, the people no longer respect him as liberator and father, merely as "master"! The "reverence" accorded a "liberator" has cooled significantly in recent years. In how many states in Africa could Comrade Bob expect a truly warm welcome - I suspect, most world leaders would recoil at the idea of a visit by Comrade Bob!
