Dear Mr. Annan:

You either know something you are not telling us, or you know very little, in fact, you may be ignorant.

1)" ..bringing about a transition to an inclusive government in Zimbabwe. ..." For that, Mr. Annan, you will have to change the constitution of Zimbabwe since it does not specify that the loser in the elections must dictate terms in the formation of the government. Neither is thge name "Annan" mentioned therein.

The people of Zimabwe may not let you ride roughshod over them, their constitution and their sovereignty the way you did in Kenya early this year at the behest of your foreign masters. The ease and cockiness with which you did it then - over the graves of thousands who were slaughtered and the sorrow of the millions dislocated - seems to have emboldened you and filled you with euphoria.

.

2) " .. Annan said in a statement issued in Paris.."

'Paris! Isn't he great', the native would say!

Yet we know also that there are homeless natives living and selling roasted maize on the streets of Paris - just as they do on the streets of Nairobi and Harare.

"Regime Change" in Kenya, anyone?

What is the idea of "statement issued in Paris"? If you are talking about Zimbabwe, why not issue your statement in Zimbabwe? Should the people of maZimbabwe shake and quake on hearing that a statement came from Paris of the colonial powers? Mr Annan, do you wish the African to be ruled from Europe?

.

3) " ... Carter said in Sunday's statement that "the [Mugabe] regime has been in denial about what is happening in their country .."

There is a financial meltdown in USA that dwarf that in Zimbabwe. Carter seems to have THE solution. Would Carter consider hurrying back to his USA to push for a similar dose of a "regime change" there (of the type we see happening in Iraq that would completely remake the political, social and cultural life of the country.)?

.

4) Odinga is quoted in today's foreign press as having called on foreigners to invade Zimbabwe. This, more than forty years after Lumumba! And many decades after Nkrumah! And after many many Africans died to shed the yoke of colonial invaders and plunderers!

How many Kenyans still think that Odinga has what it takes to be a leader in Kenya, let alone Africa?

[HA! An empty tin. Does Odinga have a track record in leading a country to prosperity, let alone a continent? NO. HA!]

.

5) Zimbabwe is an member of the AU. Would we expect a leader of a country in Europe, say UK, to call on Russia, North Vietnam or China to invade another EU member country, say France? NO. Behold, Odinga the naive.

[Abnoxious. Banda is known to have said that some are like hyenas that urinate upwind to scatter the heard downwind. Are these 'elders' in it just to assuage their bloated egos? Carter knows better. Is he prosecuting an imperial design among the unsuspecting natives and the naive fellow 'elders'?]

.

6) The so-called "elders" - and Carter in particular - do not refer to, or even seem to be aware of, to the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by Carter's USA as well as UK and the EU countries.

Carter knows that with regard to the plight of the citizens of Zimbabwe, the economic sanctions imposed by whites are THE precipitating factor. And he knows that the state that Zimbabwe is in is precisely the state that economic sanctions are meant to bring about - as witnessed in the case of USA's sanctions on, among others, Cuba and Iraq. Thus by NOT mentioning the sanctions, he reveals himself as lacking candor and less than an honest broker of peace.

And by seemingly empathizing with the suffering natives and yet not calling on his USA and his ancestral UK to lift the sanctions that cause the suffering, Carter reveals his moral bankruptcy.

Sometimes the word "elder" suggests one with wisdom and insight gained from living the life. Sometimes, and especially with the parade of clowns in this article, it means just plain old.

it is apparently clear that we do not value human life as i see some comments from people. the Zimbabwe crisis is appaling when the common man is going without food, the economy is at a standstill and the president and his cronies are living at bliss holding on to power, it shows how they are leading, that is if they are leading at all a nation that was once prosperous to teh dogs. if annan can assist to bring the situiation to rest so let it be. this has nothing to do with where he is from. we are a global society one countries issues affects the other. we need to act the leaders of Zim need to accept that the cpuntry si and will alwasy be greater than them and will live far after they are no more, so Annan andhis team we support your hope efforts commenst and hope the southern leaders will act decisively immedaitley

Gijo, thanks man you are a true Zimbabwean unlike that idiot chokora who thinks of himself and his other tsotsis in Zanu.we have suffered enough and we urgently need all the positive influence we can get from outside our borders because our situation has gone beyond repairable measures and we sustain people like Annan and his crew for their efforts to restore our country where it should be,because as Zimbabweans we have done our share to change this evil government through our democratic right of voting but we have been denied our freedom by these evil people as they had continuosly rigged the elections. Now is the time for the world to rally behind us otherwise we are going to be wiped out by these manmade dissasters of thse cholera, hunger and starvation.Mugabe must go,and we hope Annan will continue to work towards achieving that goal.Chokora and Mugabe you can go and burn in hell with the rest of other murders, but imbabwe must return to its rightful citizens,Zimbabweans not Mugabes.

If Afica has to be disappointed in any leader from anywhere regarding the Zim crisis, that leader has to be first and foremost Kofi Annan. For some of us the man's hypocrisy makes us sick. Zimbabwe was and still is being battered left right and centre by sanctions that were imposed by the US and EU in carhoots and at the behest of the UK that the se countries and block imposed without the mandate of the UN which Annan was leading at the time in 2001. Now he wants to pretend not to know what the root of the problems in Zimbabwe. He has jumped into bed with those who have vowed to make Zimbabawe not only a colony again but to demonstrate to other like minded governments throughout the world that defying western dictated hegemony is done so at the risk of not only destroying that government but breaking the people also so that no one will dare rise again in defiance of the west. Each time that fellow Kofi opens his mouth about Zimbabwe, I cringe to realise that the man has sunk so low as to selling out fellow Africans into bondage as long as his Swiss account grows fat. Shame on you Kofi. A true African will be going around the world, using his stature and influence (in Kofi's case we are assuming he has any)to highlight the plight of Zimbabwean under sanctions and to advocate vigorously for the lifting of those sanctions rather pretnding to have only eyes that see one side of the story. Zvimwe muchinyarawo vanaKofi (you must have shame for some of the things you do people like Kofi)Is he afraid of speaking out against those ganging up to mess up Zimbabwe? Now please tell us what sanctions you are referring too. Do you mean the ones banning arms from entering Zimbabwe, or do you mean the sanctions on travel for Mugabe's thugs? Or the ones on the 4 companies that prop up this murderous regime (one I think makes army uniforms). Which sanctions are you referring too? Surely none of these if removed could help Zimbabwe, because they didnt cause the problems in the first place. Ever wonder why Mugabes government is listed as 14th in the world as most corrupt? I think you need to take a look within and stop blaming others for your own shortcomings, because your own shortcomings wont go away while looking elsewhere...

Do you mean to tell me that you are commenting on Zimbabwe but you don't know which sanctions the country is under? What is wrong with some of us Africans ( I am assuming you are one. If not I forgive your ignorance because you could be from that part of the world where they think Africans are not people but things). For a start google ZIDERA and you will get to know WHICH sanctions I am referrng to. Secondly just a bit about recently imposed sanctions. You mean you do not know that the Minerals Marketing Coorporation of Zimbabwe, the vehicle that markets and sells all Zimbabwe's minerals except gold, was put on sanctions so that Zimbabwe does not benefit from is mineral exports. Mineral exports are Zimbabwe's biggest foreign currency earner. The proceeds are what make the country tick. You do not seem to know also that the Zimbabwe Mining Development Coorporation, the government department that spearheads mining and mining development in Zimbabwe in partnership with domestic and foreign investors was recently put under sanctions to criple Zimbabwe's mining development. And alarmingly, you do not seem to know that one foreign doctor and businessman who was bringing in vital drugs used in the treatment and management of renal diseases was also put under sanctions so that those drugs do not come into Zimbabwe. Just a bit of education on cholera. Don't you know that cholera was used as a biological warfare weapon during the war of liberation and since then Zimbabwe, parts of South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia experience yearly outbreaks of cholera together with anthrax, another germ used as biological warfare weapon by Rhodesians backed by international pharmaceutical companies. One of the laboratories from where biological warfare material was researched was located in Bindura and run by a then 'reputable' white doctor with contacts in apartheid South Africa, the USA, UK and Germany where he got all manner of toxins and poisons to use in biological warfare. He did what he did with the blessings of these countries and of course the Rhodesians. The current sanctions regime is just an extension of the war to keep the African separate from the resources of his country and iweka iwe, those countries that are pontificaing about democracy in Zimbabwe don't care a hoot about the life of an African. As I write, South Africa and Namibia are actively rendering support to Zimbabwe to contain the cholera outbreak. Our former oppressors, the authors and enforcers of the sanctions are busy badmouthing the government of Zimbabwe and howling about a humanitarian crisis while gleefully celebrating the death of so many people. If it is a humanitarian crisis and they are human, why are they not intervening. Instead of bringing in drugs and water treatment chemicals, they are planning to bring in bombs kunyatsotipedzisa (finish us off). Zvimwe zvinhu munasvinurawo kani pane kuratidza hufotini pamapepanhau kudai (open your eyes before making a fool of yourself with empty comments on these discussion forums)

Aaaah finally someone with some intelligence around here.

Now, ZIDERA, the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act of 2001'. I have some questions.

1) Why was this Act put in place? 2) What actions could Zimbabwe have taken to remove these restrictions. 3) Given ZIDERA is a US Act, does it only ban the Minerals Marketing Coorporation of Zimbabwe from selling to the US only, or do US Act's apply to the rest of the world? I mean... is Zimbabwe still free to trade minerals with Russia, China, even Europe? You also mention "And alarmingly, you do not seem to know that one foreign doctor and businessman who was bringing in vital drugs used in the treatment and management of renal diseases was also put under sanctions so that those drugs do not come into Zimbabwe." Clearly, if this is true, this is wrong and I wont disagree with that.

But how does this compare with the $7.3 million USD stolen from the The Global Fund for Aids etc by the Mugabe Government to fund its election campaign?

You also say "If it is a humanitarian crisis and they are human, why are they not intervening." The UK has already pledged £10 million pounds to help, just so you know.

And nobody is planning on bringing in bombs. You are a fool to believe this, surprising considering the rest of your post.

And one final question. If your neighbour was beating his wife, raping his daughter and murdering his son, would you trade with him?

Kofi iscraper,

Excellent stuff, well researched and intelligently presented. Could not have said it any better.

This stupid CIA agent called Awt and his cohorts are in perpetual denial. Their brief is to tell the world, through WMDs (Weapons of Mass Deception), that the problems and all the suffering and dying that is taking place in our mother land Zimbabwe is as a result of the failure by the democratically elected government of Zimbabwe and yet they know too well that they are responsible for our suffering.

Awt also does not want to know or pretence not to know that Agribank has been put on the sanctions list. Knowing as we all do the responsibilities of this bank, it is obvious that Awt and his friends, who have been deployed by the CIA and MI5 to demonise Zimbabwe, are in total denial of the effects and devastation that their sanctions have had on the people of Zimbabwe. The idea is to try and seperate the people's President from the masses so that it becomes easy for them to invade our country and recolonise us once again.

Awt also refuses to acknowledge that cholera is prevelent in all third world countries but becomes severe in countries like Zimbabwe because, as you rightly said, was used by the Smith regime against freedom fighters and the population during the war.

Just go to the famous Kenyan slams and see how many people as I write this post are dying of this disease. No less than 100 people die of cholera and malaria in that country every month. And yet you hear a murderer like Odinga calling on his masters to invade Zimbabwe before he removes a log in his eye.

Recently, there were about 100 reported cases of cholera deaths in one Mozambican province (with many cases going unreported throughout the country), but this does not attract imperialist attention because the focus now is on Zimbabwe. In Mozambique the deaths occured well before the current outbreak in Zimbabwe.

Therefore, when these dogs of war egnore some of these facts, it is not ignorance but is by design so that only Zimbabwe is painted as a failed state and this is calculated to provide a pretext for the invasion of Zimbabwe. No wonder there has been an upsurge in calls from some stooges in the region in particular and Africa in general like Khama, Odinga, Tutu, Annan, Wade, and many others, for military intervention by Western imperialists to remove President Mugabe from power.

PLEASE IGNORE ANY POSTS FROM TAKUNYA_NDEBVU AND MABHIZA. THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME PERSON AND PAID BY THE ZANU PF'S MINISTRY OF INFORMATION (PROPOGANDA DEPARTMENT) TO POST AS MUCH PROPOGANDA ON THE WEB AS POSSIBLE TO PROMOTE THE MURDEROUS AND THEIVING ROBERT MUGABE. IF YOU READ ANY OF HIS POSTS YOU'LL SEE THAT HE MAKES THINGS UP AND CONTINUALLY LIES FOR THIS AIM. HE HAS NO CREDIBILITY WHATSOEVER AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. HE WILL CONTINUNALLY CLAIM THAT TSVANGIRAI HAS CALLED FOR SANCTIONS AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF ZIMBABWE. THIS CLAIM IS 100% FALSE AND DESIGNED TO ALIENATE TSVANGIRAI FROM THE MAJORTIY OF THE PEOPLE IN ZIMBABWE THAT SUPPORT HIM. HE HAS NO EVIDENCE OF THIS, AND WILL TRY TO TELL YOU THAT THIS HAPPENED ON BBC HARDTALK. IF YOU LOOK UP TSVANGIRAI'S INTERVIEW ON HARDTALK THROUGH YOUTUBE, YOU WILL SEE THERE ARE NO MENTION OF SANCTIONS AT ALL. IT IS SIMPLY A LIE, LIKE THE REST OF HIS POSTS. HE IS ALSO UNABLE TO NAME A SINGLE SANCTION THAT SITS AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF ZIMBABWE AND HAS NO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT ANY OF HIS CLAIMS AND LIES BLATANTLY ON A CONSTANT BASIS. HE WILL ALSO CALL ANY PERSON WHO IS AGAINST THE TRYANNY AND GENOCIDAL REIGN OF MUGABE WHO ARGUES WITH HIM ANY NAME UNDER THE SUN IN AN ATTEMPT TO DISCREDIT THEM. SO PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH TAKUNYA, HE IS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER ARGUE WITH A (SELF PROFESSED!)IDIOT. HE'LL ONLY BRING YOU DOWN TO HIS LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXPERINCE. Here are some facts (and you cant argue with facts!) why.. 1) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza work for the Herald, are paid by the ZANU PF to spread propaganda and lies, and to twist the truth in the ZANU PF's favor on the internet.

2) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza are one and the same person.

3) I "killed people and others suffer during slavery. You killed people and made others suffer during colonialism. You are killing people today and making others suffer because they want to have control of their own resources."

3) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza have stated that Mugabe is the most democratic leader in Africa. Seriously!

4) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza have stated that "in a bid to tarnish the image of Zanu pf, MDC went on a killing spree and murderered 130 MDC and Zanu pf supporters in the process."

5) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe there were " over 200 CIA operatives criss-crossing the country during the elections."

6) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe "Even the British are not happy with Tsvangirai's leaning towards the Americans when it was their (regime change) project in the first place.

7) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that "Prem and Awt_independent, Phiri … are hired by the MDC establishment. Infact they are the brains in MDC hence are the ones strategising attacks on the Zimbabwean people be it via violence or sanctions." So now I work for the CIA, MI5 (see below) and the MDC.

8) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that war veterans and police officers should be allowed to bar the MDC from distributing food to starving orphans.

9) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that freedom of speech should not exist in Zimbabwe and newspaper editors should be monitored to ensure they subscribe to the Zanu PF government's policies.

10) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that the US and Britain have openly stated that they are working with Zimbabwean journalists for "illegal regime change"

11) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe the west "created the HIV virus and injeted it into the African people. They then turned around and alleged that HIV originated in Africa"

"virus was created in a lab by some American scientist and injected into selected African families and this is proof enough that their experiments have not ended and this time they are using the HIV virus to exterminate the Africa race."

12) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe the MDC has a "dictatorial leader who does not allow alternative voices". Rather ironic that one.

13) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza both support the use of violence, murder, rape and torture by Mugabe against the people of Zimbabwe.

14) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza both believe that Bush is responsible for atrocities in Iraq, and this justifies Mugabe's atrocities in Zimbabwe, including the genocide of 20,000 Ndebele people and the murders of over 100 MDC supporters during this years elections.

15) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza should be ignored because none of their posts are truthful and they are always misleading.

16) If you say anything against Mugabe, Takunya and Comical Mabhiza may say that you are paid by the CIA and MI5 to write here.

17) I do not work for the CIA

18) The CIA does not pay me. If they do, please give them my bank account details, all cards accepted. :-)

19) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza will also resort to childish name calling when they have no factual evidence based argument.

20) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza both believe that Tsvangirai called for sanctions against the people of Mugabe.

21) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza should be ignored because non of their posts are truthful and they are always misleading.

22) Tsvangirai never called for sanctions against the people of Zimbabwe.

23) When confronted and asked for evidence of this, Takunya and Comical Mabhiza have none.

24) The Sanctions faced by Zimbabwe are not against the people of Zimbabwe.

25) The Sanctions faced by Zimbabwe are only against the government and its ministers, and 4 companies, including one that makes military uniforms.

26) None of these Sanctions are faced by the people of Zimbabwe.

27) Tsvangirai is not responsible for these sanctions.

28) If Tsvangirai did not exist, there would still be sanctions on Zimbabwe (as described above).

29) Therefore Tsvangirai is 100% independent of Zimbabwe being sanctioned as above.

30) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza should be ignored because non of their posts are truthful and they are always misleading.

31) Biti and Ncube, and Tsvangirai had no input into the drafting of the American sanctions bill.

32) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe the west wants to recolonise Zimbabwe.

33) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe the west wants to invade Zimbabwe.

34) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza should be ignored because non of their posts are truthful and they are always misleading.

35) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe the west wants to poison aid and kill Zimbabweans.

36) Tsvangirai has never denied aid to the Zimbabwean people, only Mugabe has done this.

37) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza should be ignored because non of their posts are truthful and they are always misleading.

38) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that Zimbabwe only has partial independence and that the fight against colonialism still goes on.

39) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that Tsvangirai called for sanctions whilst being interviewed on BBC HardTalk in 2000.

40) Tsvangirai never appeared on BBC HardTalk in 2000. More lies.

41) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that the British want to bomb Zimbabwe.

42) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that the west wants to inject AIDS into aid to give to the people of Zimbabwe.

43) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that west want to destabilize Zimbabwe and "make it ungovernable for eventual American and British takeover just like in Iraq and Afghanistan."

44) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that Tsvangirai didn’t attend the meeting of SADC heads in Swaziland because he refused to go, and that he had a valid passport tor travel. This is after the Zim government clearly stated that Tsvangirai wasn’t issued a passport because there was no paper to make passports due to paper being under sanction.

45) Paper is not under any type of sanction.

46) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that Zimbabwe does not need any outside help.

47) Takunya and Comical Mabhiza believe that Bush is tainting Genetically Modified Foods with Aids and delivering it to Zimbabwe. Is this even possible?

48) Takunya and comical Mabhiza believe that Tsvangirai boycotted the Swaziland summet in favour of a round of golf.

49) For saying these things, Takunya and Mabhiza have tried to discredit me by saying that "You have supported the American war on Iraq and Afghanistan. You have supported the torture of suspected terrorists by the CIA as it practises its extraordinary randition around the world. You have supported the rape of women and girls by the American soldiers many times. You have supported the use of chemical weapons on civilians in Vietnam many times on this forum. You are a CIA agent. You have been exposed as a bitter former white commercial farmer who got recruted by the CIA. You are totally against the land reform do not lie. You were part of the killing machinary that massacred our comrades at Chimoio, Nyadzonya, Mkushi etc."

All of this is simply propaganda made up by Takunya and Mabhiza to discredit what I say in my posts. And obvious as such to everyone with a brain. And I wouldnt be campaigning so strongly for the people of Zimbabwe who are subject to such practices at the hands of the Butcher of Harare if any of this were true. Water off a ducks back to me though.

PS did everyone spot the 4 spelling mistakes in that piece of nonsense. Someone needs to learn how to spell too. :-)

So just ignore Takunya and Comical Mabhiza, and let these facts speak for themselves.

Thank you for your time.

Author: Kofi iscraper Dec 8 19:25:48 2008 " .. Zimbabwe, parts of South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia experience yearly outbreaks of cholera together with anthrax, another germ used as biological warfare weapon .. "

Good post.

The use of germ warfare agents to kill Zimbabweans is attributed to UK's master murderer, Sir Cecil Rhodes, who used small-pox to kill off the brave armies of Chief Lobengula - after which so that he could claim the lands of maZimbabwe and the minerals therein of for the Englishmen, the eternal parasites.

-----

Yes, the lands and the riches of Zimbabwe are at the core of the current belligerency from UK and USA.

-------

It makes people of goodwill apprehensive and saddened by the lack of interest shown by Africans in their security: They seem to be unaware that their very survival as a viable society beyond the first half of this century is not assured.

" .. germ used as biological warfare weapon .."

1) That should be enough to give pause to the naive, subversive lackeys like the Annans and the Odingas who are hell bent on causing mayhem and havoc in Africa - if at all the continued survival of their future generations is of interest to them. NO: their egos are too big. Indeed the presence of hostile foreign forces (and USA's AFRICOM) on African soil should have been the subject of virulent condemnation by the AU and the African countries who know should know the ravages of creeping imperialism. But NO.

Would the Americans or the French allow the Chinese or Russian military command on their soil? But naive Odinga would - with a wide grin and pompous swagger. What a boy!

2) That should make South Africa, the Southern Africa region and indeed the whole of Africa immediately realize that the stakes are high and their security is threatened. It is not merely a matter of concern to Zimbabwe only if germs can be introduced into an African country to kill, incapacitate and create instability in pursuit of "regime change" or in the interest of experimentation. [Should the occurence of Ebola receive closer forensic scrutiny as a matter of urgent security concern in Africa?]

3) The security issue is of concern to all the African countries. What is the security arm of the AU doing about it? First there is a need to ascertain some facts of the matter. What is the genetic make-up of the germ in Zimbabwe?

***

There are two main strains of the cholera bacteria and several African Universities and industrial laboratories have the capability to get the investigative work done as a matter of national security priority.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholera#Pandemic_genetic_diversity

Is it of the same strain as that found in the neigbouring African countries? Could it have accurred locally and what history is there?

Who would store such a germ for warfare purposes? [One country has enough stockpiles of germ warfare agents to kill all humans on earth many times over. What is the AU's stand on this issue - or do hope that if they are weak then they will be sopared? Weakm Iraq was NOT spared. Neither was Vietnam and Haiti and Grenada and Chile ... and the empires of the Aztecs and the Incas ..]

The benign neglect shown by the Annan-Odinga-Tutu axis of evil when cholera and other epidemics occur in other countries as contrasted with the shrill eagerness with which the Annans, Odingas and their handlers have rushed to condemn Mugabe and call for an invasion in which many would die (and continue to die for generations to come) makes one suspicious.

a) Do they propose that Mugabe has a stockpile of germ warfare agents?

b) For decades, Odinga has represented perhaps the largest slum area in Africa. And for the duration conditions have steadily deteriorated - high crime rates, poor infrastructure, poor sanitation, open sewers in the streets, no indoor plumbing - creating a high risk of a pedestrian being hit by a trash bag full of human waste thrown out a shack. A parade of epidemics - including cholera - hit and ebb now and then in this Odinga constituency.

Now he condemns Cde Mugabe. What has he ever accomplished?

I used to be a huge fan of Kofi Annan but in actual fact he is the one that has failed Zimbabwe. I'm tired of arguing with awt_independent as he is probably just a rabid rhodie who did not have his way in Zimbabwe. lair007 who thinks Zimbabwe is a recipient of ameriKKKan charity is just plain ignorant or a white supremacy propagandist. They say 'all is fair in love and war' - that must be true because total injustice in the treatment of Zimabwean people by the western sanctions is being viewed as 'fair'. Goebbels must be still alive and training the likes of awt_independent and liar007 in not letting the truth stand in the way of some ignorant self-serving propaganda. Does awt stand for 'average white trash'? Racism is alive and well in the un to the point where even Sarkozy had to stand up in Doha for African rights in the un security council. Could it be shame for his past utterances? Could he really have a conscience? Has he finally seen the light? Is this just another poliTRICKING tactic to gain African support for the nefarious handling of Zimbabwe by europe and ameriKKKa? Will he do something about his police's brutal and racist attack on Black french athlete Eunice Barber and his courts' disgraceful handling of the situation?

" ... the Zimbabwe crisis is appaling when the common man is going without food, the economy is at a standstill and the president and his cronies are living at bliss holding on to power, .."

You need a perspective: 1) "the common man is going without food" - with unemployment at over 65% in Kenya, the same common man you care so much about is in dire straights. Why are you discriminating against the Kenyans who also need a "regime change"? Over 30 million of the common man are straving in USA. Do you want to discriminate here too?

2)" ..the economy is at a standstill .." -- Eh, Are you referring to the current economic recession and the financial meltdown in USA? [For info on the dire situation or economic standstill in USA, Europe and the rest of Asia, check the well known "Wall Street Journal" or "Bloomberg Report" available online. Compare how the foreigners are responding to their situation - with bailouts and regulations - and how Odinga goes about a similar one in Africa - with 'asking foreigners to rape, torture and kill Africans in a 'regime change'.]

3) "..the president and his cronies are living at bliss holding on to power .."

You coulkd also say the same about Kenya. Early this year thousands died and nearly a million dislocated as Kibaki and his foreign handlers insisted on holding onto power. And he still has a hold on it. And Kenya's MPS - included the loud Odinga - pay no income tax even as they are among the highest paid legislators in the WORLD - in a country that is among the poorest in the WORLD.

And oh, yes, they award themselves increases in pay and 'benefits' frequently. For what? And they beg foreigners every year for more aid. With average unemployment at 65% (and over 95% in some communities) isn't Odinga's Kenya then a better example of a failed state that is ripe for urgent humanitarian "regime change"?

Chokora, why do you continue to lie?

First you say that there are over 1 million children raped in the UK this year already. I proved this as a lie.

Then you said that 30 million people are starving in the US, and I showed this to be false also, but you continue to post the same lies.

And now you say that "with unemployment at over 65% in Kenya"

Unemployment in Kenya is closer to 40%. Stop making things up and exaggerating.

As for the wests economic stand still, no recession in history has lasted more that 16 months (I refer you to this weeks Time Magazine) so it wont be long until these economys are back on their feet. Can you say the same for Zimbabwe?

And you say again "With average unemployment at 65% (and over 95% in some communities)" Why make this up?

Regime change has happened in the USA, surprised you did not notice? Must have been because no-one was beaten, murdered, abducted. The US/World economic crisis is very serious and very real, however it pales in comparison to the problems that Zimababwe is going through. In the US you can still buy food, access your money, talk freely (call bush what ever you like, drink the water. The financial crisis might be in monetary terms much bigger than zim but then again the GDP of Zimbabwe does not reach those of some US companies.

Annan deserves respect due to his position as Sec. Gen. of the UN though I do feel he was a disaster when it came to Rwanda and Bosnia. Perhaps he is not the right person time will tell. However something needs to be done about the cholera etc. Better someone that knows his way arround the world organisations?

"Regime Change" happens in pretty much all democratic countries every 4 years or so, if the people are happy with the government, then no change, if the people arent happy then they change. Pretty simple. Imagine what would happen if there was no concept of "Regime Change" and a government was able to continue its rotten way without a threat that they might lose their jobs. Hence "regime change" is necessary and healthy. Look at the US, is it unhealthy that the Democrats will now be in power? And yes.... the US and the rest of the world are still in alot better shape. If you asked anyone in Zimbabwe where they would rather be, in a place with running water, electricity, no fear of death for voting, less rapes per capita, a government that isnt corrupt, I'm pretty sure they wouldnt be living in Zimbabwe. Look at the country, its a disgrace. People are dying. Something needs to be done. Under Mugabe, it will just spiral further into its demise. And the people will suffer because people wrongly believe that "regime change" is bad. The only people that "regime change" in Zimbabwe is bad for is the ones that are destined for the Hague.

So far South Africa has had three presidents in half the time Zimbabwe has had one president. In other words if South Africa had had independence at the same time as Zimbabwe back in 1980, they would have had six presidents by now. Okay I am extrapolating, but one country seems to be maturing faster than the other. One has its leaders still crying and whining: please tell the world to remove the sanctions then we would be fine. For me I say tighten the noose on the miscreants.

There has already been a smooth regime change in the USA, and the next president's father was born African and lies buried on African soils.

Zimbabwe(ans) wake up: the rest of the world couldn't careless.

28 years under one president aint such a big deal, Zimbabwe is spring chicken - you ain't seen nothin yet.

The elders must be neutral in the way they approach the issues in the world and speak the truth about Zimbabwe. There is no denying that Bob and ZPF have mismanaged the Zimbabwean economy especially when they decided to embark on the land reform program without thinking properly through the process, they shouuld admit they erred. Zimbabweans agree that land had to be redistributed, but not in the manner it was done. On the other hand, sanctions, have had an impact on the generality of Zimbabweans. True, they might have been targetted on the top brass, but the truth of the matter is that the generality of the people have also been caght in the crossfire. I know some people will deny it, but i think as the elders condemn Mugabe and ZPF, they need to tell a full story and condemn these sanctions as well. The west should admit like they did in Iraq that they erred and the sanctions have had an impact on the generality to a much greater extent than they have had on the targets. Lets face, the targetted people can cushion themselves but the general population can not. So the elders should not tell a one sided story if they are to maintain their respect.

I have read some of the comments posted here trying to normalise a tenuous situation esp 'the first one'!!! I'm sorry but which world do you live in? Zimbabwe does not stand alone, it has neighbors etc and is part of the global community. Yes Zimbabwe is a sovereign state, but it does not stand alone.

To me and so many others it seems very simple: If you want to do business with me or borrow money from me you have to meet certain criteria and conditions. Which goes with nations as well. You can complain about sanctions all you want but those countries have a right to do that!!! Fighting it is futile, whether you agree with it or not. At some point you have to tow the line of democracy, YES western form democracy, and not Zimbabwean, war veteran entitlement, democracy (my uncle is a war veteran). If big powerful nations like China and Russia had to modify their ideology for them to prosper in this global community, what about lowly Zimbabwe?

You old hags (yes my uncle included) need to grow up and realize that you are not in the 'bush' anymore. You need to realize that you did not fight so you can enjoy the economical fruits of liberation( by economical fruits I mean driving Benzes and Bimmas and living a plush life). You fought to end oppression!!! (Well we at least hope that was your motivation). Liberation does not mean holding the nation hostage just because 'you fought in the bush.' At this point, who gives a damn!!! Turn back the clock and stay at home, don't fight because at least during colonialism we still had food to eat.

And somebody mentioned the financial meltdown in the US being greater than the one in Zimbabwe!!! You definitely have never been to the US. You are one of those who probably believes that pavements in the US are lined with gold and silver!!! Come to the US and tell me if you see a meltdown. Ignorance is bliss for sure!!!!!

I am an imposter because 'hama dzangu dziri kufa nenzara and and dziri kurwara necholera (my relatives are dying of hunger and cholera)' and I have the "nerve" to see that there is something wrong with that. In that case then an imposter I am, and I will proudly wear that label. 2 weeks ago my grandfather almost died because they could not find medicine for dysentry, and you expect me to laugh and go on with life like everything is fine, and smile at Robert Mugabe and his relatives who have a well stocked hospital kwaZvimba.

There is a problem in Zimbabwe, and instead of sitting there and passing blame, THE SOVEREIGN GOVERNMENT, should "sovereignly" give medication and provide food then, if they are doing such a splendid job. If they are not doing a splendid job then vacate and stop blaming others!!!

A meltdown in America equates to prosperity and luxury in Zimbabwe, trust me on that one.

What, in the name of God, stops YOU from "invad[ing] Mugabe's (sic) fiefdom...."?

Come clean now: you are chicken; otherwise, given your BELLICOSE RHETORIC against the "fiefdom," you would have marched on Harare like yesterday.

I am reasonably certain that the armed might of ZANU/PF eagerly awaits the OBJECTIFICATION of your suicidal INTENTIO.

Consequences? WHEN YOU INVADE, YOU'LL FIND OUT.

Go ahead, give it a solid shot: you just might succeed in razing the "fiefdom."

But, SERIOUSLY, you are not serious, for there is nothing sillier than a hunter with a cough.

jallohlaw you speak of African dignity...but where is the African dignity in Zimbabwe? At the shut down hospitals? The lack of access to any medical facilities? the trillion percent inflation rate? The cholera that has already killed 500 people? The looting soldiers? The long queues for bread? It seems that Mugabe is the one who has lost his African dignity in a bid to have sovereign Zimbabwe for himself, and blaming all failures on the West.

It is indeed true that when all is said and done usually more is said than done. After my prayer I now know who the Pharaohs holding the people of Zimbabwe in slavery are - they are all those who are thriving, or hope to thrive, from the misery of the ordinary people. The comments by Mr Annan, though well meaning, do not help the ordinary people but only serve to generate heat rather than light. A man of his stature would achieve much if he tells the truth by condeming all the Pharaohs of this world.
