With talks between Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and his opposition yielding few resolutions to the political deadlock, some observers are calling for outside-the-box thinking beyond the parametres laid out in negotiations.

Nice try, but why on Earth does anyone think that Mugabe would accept that anymore than any other way of giving up power?

A possible route to end Zimbabwe’s nightmare is to quickly establish a non-partisan transitional administration to prepare for new presidential elections in eighteen months and address the disastrous humanitarian and economic conditions now facing the country. Ending Zimbabwe’s Nightmare: A Possible Way Forward, the latest report from the International Crisis Group, argues that the ...

Thnak you, International Crisis Group, for your input. Would you happen to have a plan for a possible way forward that does NOT involve Robert Mugabe stepping down? Because the only person he will ever step down for is Death, and my review of your group's roster does not seem to show Death in any leadership role.
Death seems like a perfect option when it comes to mugabe!
Why does the crisis group insult Africans by failing to respect a very simple way forward proposed by Africans? Do we take the failure to read the riot act to Tsvangirayi who is blocking the implementation of the SADC ruling to be evidence of the fact that the crisis group is partly responsible for the non-African advice to MDC?
The Shonas wrecked Zim and they still dominate the politics there please be diverse International Crisis Group
Zimbabwe is 99% SHONA. You know it. Thats a fact, my son. Yes, we are standing in a mess, our mess and ours only. The solution shall come from us only with help from madzisahwira...even prime minister Tsvangirai agrees. Whether one is Karanga, Kalanga, Nhanzva (called nambiyas by Ndebeles), Ndau, Venda Tonga, Nyungwe, Barwe, Korekore, Zezuru, Bocha, Garwe, Jindwi, Maungwe, Buja, Tawara etc etc ... you belong to the SHONA nation which spreads from eastern Botswana to the delta of the Zambezi, from Kafue to the north of south africa, from Vic falls to Beira. Of course,we make mistakes like others and we are open to criticism and advice from friends just as the Munhumutapa got advice from as far as southern INDIA. You can be a friend too.Welcome on board!!!
akapfunde you are right but do not forget about globalisation. You can not operate on your own. Its simple, if your have resources can you sell them in midlands, manicaland or else in zimbabwe with foreign currency, the only way you can get foreign currency is to sell what you have outside your country. You its true, and i know it.It is a two way system and a case of give and take. Do not separate zimbabwe from the world thats ignorant of the highest order.
Ian Smith did not need to take loans from the World Bank to make Rhodesia prosper, in fact all of the country's most prosperous years occurred under the imposition of anti-aparteid sanctions by the IMF. If Mugabe knew anything about economics, he could certainly make Zimbabwe proser, even under the much lighter sanctions than Smith had to deal with. Problem is, he not only knows nothing about economics, but his Marxist beliefs force him to persecute and banish anyone who does.
Clearly you do not know what you are talking about!!! How old were you in the 1960s when the Rhodesia Front took over from Edgar Whitehead and Roy Welensky? The country was awash with money from the coffers of the Federation. Most of the infra-structure had been put in place using Zambian Copperbelt money, eg Harare suburbs like Northwood, NewHighfield, Southerton etc, HarareFlyover, Harare and Mpilo hospitals, the University, the A1 road (Mtoko road)designed to join Malawi and the capital, Salisbury. The railsystem was up graded too. The Federation was responsible for these developments, not IanSmith who actively reversed a lot of the progress achieved towards non-racial nation. Smith can only be praised by the ignorant. The most important factor in IanSmith's favour was that Rhodesia was economically a fifth province of South Africa in all respects and also that the Rhodesians owned and ran Beira port. What else does one need???
Ragtimer, I do agree with you that Mugabe has mismanaged the Zimbabwean economy and abused the country as well. His Marxist theories have not worked and are riddled with corruption. Mugabe’s interference in mining and agriculture has been a total failure and disaster.
That said, under Ian Smith “Rhodesia” was a dictatorship that forced many Zimbabweans to flee the country, many people were imprisoned for disagreeing with the Smith Regime, black farmers were forced to farm in “mareserve”, there was limited movement for blacks. The list goes on….I’m not so sure that “Rhodesia” was as prosperous as it is talked about…Professor Clarke documented widespread poverty under the regime and widespread unemployment for the majority population. Can prosperity co-exist with a repressive regime? I’m not so sure about that. Is it fair to judge the then “Rhodesia” white prosperous community as extremely prosperous at the exclusion of the 98% of the population? Rhodesia will always have “dirty” hands, no matter what is said about it. Rest assured, Zimbabweans fought the war of liberation not for Mugabe or his cronies, not to restore “Rhodesia” but for freedom, justice and prosperity for all!
Rhodesia under Smith was certainly no "global economic superpower," obviously. Clark's take on poverty was, however, skewed by a typical intellectual assumption, that faced with a choice between liberty and food, people would prefer liberty. As I said before, under Smith, whites ate steak while blacks ate sazda; but I say again, under Mugabe, Mugabe eats steak, the "liberation heroes" eat sazda, and everyone else eats dirt.
Besides, is there really more freedom when a native African leader is butchering dissenters in the street, than when a European racist is butchering dissenters in the street? At least the African Union and the UN took decisive military action to stop the European racist. All they can do about Mugabe is whine about colonialist legacies, as their "liberated" nations turn into cholera breeding pits one by one.
Ragtimer, you are using a lot of Somatics in describing "Ian Smith" and so called prosperous "White Rhodesians". A rule by a few who are prosperous does not equity to a prosperous country. You sound as though you are deliberatly hiding the truth. It is not just Professor Clarke who wrote about the evil Rhodesia, many have..Among them Bishop Muzorewa, Bishop Sithole and many others..Please do not attempt your "Rhodesian" propaganda. Things are really bad in Zimbabwe, but to try to provide "Ian Smith" and his anglo cliques as the answer to the current problems is really not helpng the situation. The average life span for a Zimbabwean Man is 43years old...And Ian Smith regime was out 27 years ago..How much do most Zimbabweans remember of the Ian Smith regime and reign?! I for one think injecting Ian Smith and his white anglo minority reign of oppression is not helpful!!! Let's not forget history is written by the victors. Please do not attempt to twist facts!
You talk about death so confidently but may I remind you that "death will come like a theif at night" so it could be today, tonight for Mugabe so be careful with those words b/c Mugabe has no control over when his time comes remember that only Jesus has that power,.....
Tell us this, dear foreigners, do you remember any time that Africans or some "African Crisis Group" ever told USA what to do about its internal affairs?
NO.
Do likewise.
You can learn something wise from those Africans.
[And if you think you know better than the valiant patriots of the maZimbabwe, your current horrendous financial meltdown says otherwise - loud and clear.
That you are really clueless - regardless of your plundering IMFs and imperial World Banks and idiotic experts and the criminal UNs ..]
Please Chokora restrain your outrage. It is your kind of blind anger that is causing the problem in Zim. Of COURSE "Uncle Bob" has CONSTANTLY told the west what to do. In fact like an adolescent, despite 28 years in power, he continues to blame his colonial "parents" for all that is wrong in our beautiful and wonderful country of Zimbabwe. This week he even accuses the west of CAUSING the cholera outbreak. Only Zuma sounds more ridiculous on the African continent these days. I had nothing but respect for Mugabe in '87-'90. He was enlightened, learned the lessons of Mozambique and Zambia, preached and practiced reconciliation by bringing Nkomo into the government and finally resolving the tribal problems in Matabeleland. (Yes some will say he dragged his feet long enough to let the outside troops slaughter his oponents.) But Zim WORKED in those days. It sure doesn't today! And you must be blind to compare what's happening in Zim with what's happening in the US? Have you BEEN to downtown Harare recently? Have you BEEN to downtown New York, LA, Chicago, or ANY other city more than 1 million in the US? I think either one of "Uncle Bob's" "screws" just worked itself loose around 1993 OR his greedy J.O.C. and the "war veterans" threatened his very life. I wish I were more confident it was the latter. His legacy will be the plundering and gutting of his of "precious" country. How sad!
chokora, can you think of any time when Americans had their country collapsing around them with rampant misgovernment, health disaster and starvation? Well, if it ever come to that, then I WOULD welcome and "African Crisis Group" to look into ways of helping America on its feet!
It's easy to be "proud" when you are not among the people suffering.
You have access to the internet and yet the words "financial meltdown in USA and Europe" or the "crisis in the home mortgage industry" or "health care crisis in USA' mean nothing to you.
And still, you are unaware of the millions starving in USA and the over a million Americans who will become newly jobless this month alone. Which leads us to the increasing number of people who are becoming at risk health-wise and homeless by the day ..
The data is available. Start by reading the online versions of the reputable papers like "The Wall Street Journal" and the "Bloomberg Report". Even a glance at the online version of "The New York Times" will give you pause regarding the financially decrepit Zimbabwe-like countries named USA, UK and other EU countries.
BUT .... your "inferiority complex" seems to be a treasured status symbol to you and thus, we cannot help you.
[And I don't intend to response to your postings anymore]
"You have access to the internet ... "
Incidentally, links appearing in the articles are not transferred well in this blog and so, after many unsuccessful trials, I have ceased to include them.
So, the veracity of the statements I make can be verified through a diligent web search on the phrases on the internet.
I do have Internet and do you know what it told me...? That no wear in America is there a disease which turned into an epidemic caused simply by drinking dirty water. Wow the Internet is soooooooo coooool. Your right you can find anything on here like the fact that Mugabe lost the march election to the mdc. and that a number of mdc officials have been abducted. At least in America we can speak out against our own government without fear of being threatened or persecuted.
Back to the drawing board, junior:
1) An epidemic, whether it is caused by water or anything else, is just as devastating. And the USA has had its share of diseases and epidemics. Search for "yellow fever", "west nile fever", "legionaires disease"
2) "At least in America we can speak out against our own government without fear of being threatened or persecuted."
Obviously you do not live in "America". Start by searching under "muslims in USA" and "profiling" and "wire tapping" and "access to client records of internet companies such as yahoo and google" Do the authorities do all that surveillance for nothing? [Hint: There are prosecutions every year ..]
Don't try anything that may be construed as seditious or treasonous. And don't say something threatening against our president either.
Have you ever heard of NSA?
Check this out:

[And by the way, we listen in on what Odinga, Annan, Cde Mugabe are saying privately to their advisers, their friends and family members on their phones. Why do you think our companies carry most of the communication traffic in Africa?]
[Note: The response above is not really directed at you .. I am aware that yours is propaganda and no 'American' who loves in USA can be that naive.]
"At least in America we can speak out against our own government without fear of being threatened or persecuted."
"Speak .. without fear"? WRONG.
Tough guy: Your fearless speech may be branded "conspiracy"
And it may win for you an execution or land you in jail for life.
Here is today's news item with a link:
" .. Five Muslim immigrants were convicted of conspiracy Monday .. The men could get life in prison .. Defense lawyers argued that the alleged plot was all talk — that the men weren't seriously planning anything and that they were manipulated and goaded by two paid (USA) FBI informants. ..."

even if US's current finacial situation was to ever get bad enough to were our inflation rate was 1000% it would still be 300 thousand times less then Zim. You realy want to point fingers at everyone else and not except the fact that over 1000 people in Zim have died from a diseace that A) can be treated and B) can be prevented by just having clean water. Even the ancient Romans had a working sewer system 2000 years ago. Are you telling me that in 28 years Mugabe has been in charge(with no oppisition) he cant even supply his people with something thats been around for 2000 years?!?!
Ever since the US went to war with Iraq, I can't honestly remember any time that Africans like Desmond Tutu or the African Union representatives were NOT telling the USA what to do about its internal affairs (specifically, to oust Bush).
Last I checked, Bush has been ousted. We took your advice, why will you not take ours?
It's true the West can't tell Zimbabwe what to do but if you remove him and put in the elected President Morgan than we will send you billions of dollars to rebuild your country. You have to remove him first. Oh, Yes Morgan was elected with more than 50%. An insider reported that the reason it took 12 weeks to count was because Morgan had more than 50%. Morgan is the President leagally, morally and has a kind gentle spirit about him. Give him a chance and you will see.
Buildcastle, I agree with you absolutely as a Zimbabwean wanting " real change" . Zimbabwe economy is out of control because of Mugabe and his zanu-pf cronies. Tsvangirai is the legetimate President of Zimbabwe and not that Lunatic Mugabe. Maybe it is just the time for the west to tell Zimbabwe or Africa what to do with that dictator, Robert Mugabe.
Billions? What billions of dollars??? Prove you have that sort of money ......give some to hungary or Iceland or Latvia ..... you hyenas and nyokas. Leave Africa alone... True we have problems and issues. But they are our problems, not yours. ... its our issues, ours alone and ours to deal with in our own way and at our own time. Just go away murungu. Why are you so reluctant of letting go??? Let go! Stop sapping the blood of Africa and the moslem world.
Akapfunde1, you're laughable as you're ridiculous! You seem to fail to understand that Zimbabwe is not an island. The west can go to hell with their money. Why bother? Besides, Mugabe got an 85% mandate. Why not go it alone? It seems all the deadlock is due to the importance of the west. Why care about their approval? Besides, you have China and Russia support you. Do it! You're as crazy as Mugabe.
Iweka ... you reaction to my posting has nothing to do with the gist what l said. I never said that the so called west, referred to henceforth as 'Europeans', have immense capacity to present the billions mentioned above into any programme they chose. They have never done it anywhere in Africa. Take the trouble to study what any announced AID package involves. Mind you, the Europeans have been at the top of the pyramid of world power, by hook or by crook, for almost two thousands years. They have the means to provide whats necessary. BUT they wont, they have never done so anywhere except for their own benefit ... eg the marshallPlan for Europe at the end of the last European war (1939-45). Everything the European has done is calculated to benefit their future generations.Thats natural and to be expected from survival instincts of any organised people. Asians have learnt to do likewise. Post Saddam Arabs are learning and putting in place measures to do likewise. But us Africans, wherever we are, (Haiti, Zimbabwe, Guyana, USA, Nigeria,SouthAfriac,Jamaica etc) have failed for various reasons such as our inablity to think and plan about the morrow. Africans think that having a mobile etc is progress or driving a 4x4x or wearing Italian made clothes is a sign of success ... even if he goes to the toilet behind the nearest bush. We are like buffaloes which, despite that they have been armed by nature (horns, strong sense of smell, large population/heads etc) are picked by lions for dinner. Despite their numbers they do not come to the defence of one of their numbers but just mill about. Us Africans are like that l am sorry to say but its true. We dont have the capacity to recognise leadership from among our own. We are prepared to accommodate even hyenas dressed as sheep. We got a long way to go ... anothe 250 or more years. SORRY.

Ending the Nightmare - A Possible Way Forward
For your information, dear foreigner in a foreign land of Africa's tormentors, there is no nightmare in Zimbabwe. There was an election - in which the seditious apposition was heavily funded by foreign saboteurs - and Cde Mugabe was the winner.
The foreigners would NOT be assuaged. OK.
Then there was a run-off and Cde Mugabe emerged as the peoples' overwhelming choice. But the foreigners and their lackeys would not rest until they get their way: They don't trust the peoples' ability to choose - unless they chose the wishes of the white man - Africa's supreme plunderer of humans and resources.
SO, The long-suffering people of Zimbabwe will call for fresh election - in which Tsvangrai and his band of foreign rapists, torturers and cutthroats will be trashed at the ballot box. And again they will reject the people's verdict and call for more enemy action that harms the natives who hate them.
Where does it stop? In USA and in UK, the winning party does not offer to share power with the losing party. That is destabilizing and a sure recipe for an ineffective government that cannot muster the control to get anything done. [A that is a situation that immensely benefits the European plunderers..]
Sharing power? NO. If Tsvingrai thinks he has the policies to bring prosperity to the people of Zimbabwe, let him enunciate them clearly and seek a mandate from the people - by a simple majority even. If he cannot inspire the confidence of the people and win their mandate, then he should work harder at it while the victor pursues his winning vision for the prosperity of Zimbabwe.
For now, Tsvangrai comes across as a pathologically seditious and treasonous creep whose appointment with the gallows is long overdue.
And all men of goodwill the world over ask the people of Zimbabwe to explain why.
There is a financial meltdown in USA which is more vast and deeper than anything happening in Zimbabwe. Why does Tsvangirai and his band of cutthroats think that the west has the answers to economic problems
The Herald (Harare)
20 December 2008
PRESIDENT MUGABE has invited MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC counterpart Professor Arthur Mutambara to make themselves available for swearing in as Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister respectively pursuant to the envisaged inclusive Government.
[ See Article ]
more talkinig out of his backside and as always, reported sycophantly by the rag, struggling to flog 50 or so copies a day, called The Herald.
The only solution is for Mugabe is to invite young blood to help spearhead the development of the country. There has never been wrong with MDC to take over the reigns ko ndo vana vedu. Honestly if we start to believe this trash about recolonisation then we are going to live in bondage of stupidity. Hapana chinoitika kunyeba, patakabva ku Hondo 1980 vana Mugabe vaka mhanyira kutonga isu taka mhanyira maFactory. Today if I had stayed in Zimbabwe I couldnt have been unsuccessful, because when my company was in zim almost every day people came to seek money for 21st February movement, independence, heroes etc hapana chaibuda.
The last sentence says it all, "the (g)overnment is doing everything that it can"!
The fact of the matter is that "everything it can" means very little will ever be accomplished. ZANU-PF/Mugabe (for WHATEVER resaon) has presided over an accelerating decline in living standards and life expectancy in Zimbabwe that should logically exclude them from any consideration as a party to the next government. They have failed to improve anything in 28 years of exclusive power.
The truth is, ZANU-PF/Mugabe is NOT the Government of Zimbabwe! They are nothing more than a political party who, until March '08, held a majority in Parliament.
Part of the problem in Zimbabwe is that ZANU-PF/Mugabe see themselves as the "State" itself which is encapsulated by Comrade Bob's comment that "Zimbabwe is mine!" (which sort of reminds me that Idi Amin also though Uganda was his). But in reality, there are many Zimbabweans who are not ZANU-PF members, who did not vote for Comrade Bob, and have suffered under the rule of ZANU-PF - doesn't Zimbabwe "belong" to them too? The Government of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe itself belongs to ALL the people of Zimbabwe, only some of whom are ZANU-PF, not some delusional octagenarian freedom fighter three decades removed from his best years!
Bottom line, ZANU-PF/Mugabe are NOT the "Government" of Zimbabwe! They are a members of THE Government of Zimbabwe which will eventually include members of MDC-T & MDC-M and Independents who are NOT ZANU-PF!
So to MDC-T I say, Let ZANU-PF/Mugabe try to "go it alone"! Let's see how far Constitutional Amendment 19 gets in Parliament without MDC-T's support! Without Constitutional Amendment 19, there is NO Government in Zimbabwe! Even SADC stated that the June "elections" were NOT free & fair. Without the active participation of MDC-T in the executive branch of the government, there is no legitimate government of Zimbabwe.
Let ZANU-PF//Mugabe "go it alone" as a "government" in Zimbabwe, but they will end up just like the story of the snake chasing after and eating his own tail......... eventually he swallows his own head!
Why do people not see the obvious? MDC has been given the mandate by the people, but by refusing to take up the reins of power they have, by default, handed over the mandate to Mugabe, who has in fact been going it alone since March elections. Unelected people continue to run, more correctly to "ruin", the country while the elcted representatives watch on the sidelines.
If the other guys even agree to come in they will only be puppets for Mugabe b/c he will not give up any real power so I do not blame them for refusing to be puppets for Mugabe...
Being a puppet is a choice - Mugabe can never make MDC his puppets if they are true to their mandate from the people. The problem with MDC is the failure of the leadership to transcesnd from opposition to ruling party. The people have misplaced their faith in spineless people who know nothing about power and politics.
The problem is zim patriot Mugabe is not going to allow the MDC to move in as the ruling party while he is in power and I do not care what he calls them Mugabe will run the country... It is sad but true unless Zimbabwean's say no more which will mean more hurt, hunger and death in Zim...
Why do you give Mugabe so much power when the people have already taken it away from him. MDC is in fact betraying the people by giving Mugabe back the power - leaving him to run the country alone contrary to the people's wishes and the advice of SADC and AU.
Eah and every one of you Mugabe/Zanu-pf loyalists are always blaming someone else for Zim's problems but Mugabe has been in Charge along with the Zanu-pf for the past 28 years and well we see what they have done for Zimbabwe and it's people absolutely nothing. After 28 years it is time for a change so stop pointing fingers at the rest of the world and look at yourselves then you will see the real cause of all of Zim's problems. Mugabe and the Zanu-pf....
Please be quite about Americans killing Iraqi's b/c that is a mandated war by the UN and what Mugabe does is just plain and simple kill and steal from the people of Zimbabwe with no reason.
Then you say the people needs to stand up against Mugabe well they did and what happened? In the run off election Mugabe killed, threatened, and tortured people that were not voting for him.
I am not setting in the USA or Europe making these comments but live daily in this part of the world where I have to see what truly is happening to the people of Zim...
Going it alone means very little to Zimbabweans Mugabe should learn that he is no longer appropriate to Zimbabwe. The reason being that he is not acceptable at home and world wide, hence products from Zimbabwe will be seen in bad light. Current institutions in Zimbabwe will never develop under Mugabe; we are likely to witness further deterioration of the situation. Going alone means going negative both growth and development. The only people who will suffer are the poor Zimbabweans, which is obviously a dangerous price to pay both in health and in economic terms. Mugabe’s regime thrives on killing fellow Zimbabweans hence Zimbabweans are at risk of death. That is a death trap never to be allowed to happen for the survival of human kind.
" .. The invitation -- in writing -- follows the gazetting of Constitutional Amendment Number 19 Bill last week paving way for the creation of the posts of Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister respectively. .."
Afew questions arise: 1) Were these posts specifically created for certain people in the opposition?
2) Is there a mechanism y which the constitution of Zimbabwe can be changed? Of course we do not want such changes to the peoples' document to be easy to make. We also want to create a case whereby the people can have an input into the changes. Has a nationwide referendum to approve the amendments been called yet?
Note that if amendments can be made ata whim by the country's detractors then the people of Zimbabwe are not well-served.
Case in point: Ijh the country of Kenya, there was a time when a brilliant, young and immensely popular Tom Mboya was poised to assume leadership. But he was NOT a foreigners' lackey. So the foreign masters hatched a plot to thwart him: They prevailed and forced their elected lackeys (who would be elected without the foreign cash) in parliament to introduce a change to the constitution imposing a MINIMUM age for one to run for thr presidency. And so Tom Mboya was out of the running.
Later, the same foreign masters were uncomfortable with President Moi's creeping assertiveness (arising from too much familiarity with the foreigners cursed plundering ways). So they inserted a MAXIMUM age clause into the constitution and Moi was out of the running in 2002 and their lackey Kibaki was in.
Are you still following this sordid saga?
But, in 20007, their boy Kibaki was over the maximum age limit. So THEY changed Kenya's constitution again to EXTEND the age limit. And Kibaki was still in the running. BUT then there was a problem: Kibaki was not popular and according to reliable foreign reports, he lost the elections2007. But the USA and UK insisted that their boy had to be president. So, by decree ... .. no re-run and no re-count that their man was sure to lose again and again. So Kibaki swore himself into the presidency in private, and in the middle of the night. Carnage? Dislocation of millions of natives? No big deal to these foreign imperial killers. And with the support of the foreign colonial masters, Kibaki is still the (figurehead) president of Kenya.
And the Kenyans wallow in destitution - with unemployment rate at 70% and creeping towards 95% in places and with large tracts of land still squatted upon by foreigners AND the country's political. social and economic life firmly controlled by UK ....
.
Is Kenya an independent country? Independent from whom? what? Do you wonder why Odinga seems to be the white man's mouthpiece in Africa - and why he has nothing unkind to say about a white man - any white leader ... not even Mr Bush?
.
Zimbabwe, don't go the Kenya way.
.
The current financial meltdown and the worsening economic recession in the west, should alert Africans to the long-hidden secret (indeed the truism) that the west does not know more about mechanisms of economic activity and economic development than the Africans do.
.
Moreover, dear African, those foreigners don't know more about governance than Africans do and your forefathers did. Think of Shaka and Lobengula. There were civilizations and kingdoms thriving on the African savanna long before the Neanderthals of Europe ever crept hesitantly out of their caves.
.
Scrape the changes. No extra posts imposed on Zimbabwe by colonial masters. If Tsvangrai and his fellow seditious plotters want to lead the country and the people of glorious maZimbabwe, they must get the mandate of the people of Zimbabwe. The people did not get rid of the foreigners and Ian Smith - only to admit foreigners and Tsvangirai.

I agree with you "Be Free" get rid of the scum mugabe and regime and Zimbabwe will rebuild into an amazing country!
The scum to be removed includes the clueless Tsvangirayi who believes power comes from Mugabe and not the people. The people have given him the power that he should be exercising to protect his people but he still expects Mugabe to give him the power. Pathetic.
Append to the tail MT, "Be free" and "the west," a sordid and repulsive troika.
I now baptize MT a "rhodesian." MT is a rhodesian: what a spectacle!
Cheers from the City of Erudition, Harare.
Jalahlow try and be sensible don’t express your misery at the expense of suffering Zimbabweans. Could you also be decent enough not keep insulting Zimbabweans as though their needs and wishes are led by your funny ideas. Urimhondi ka iwe? Can you honestly convince me that your hands free from blood of innocent Zimbabweans?
Jallohlaw, what is it that you see?...What correct way of wisdom or conduct is it, that makes you think anything positive will come of your ridiculous postings?Offensive , sometimes racist, ignorant, dangerously arrogant and venal applause for the mercilous tyranny against the people of Zimbabwe?? Women, children and men of good heart are suffering beatings, starvation ,disease, torture and death, because drongos like you and your compassionless mates are cheering on the ghouls. As a matter of fact I think all of your comments should be screened against inciting hatred. So JabbaJaw get a worthwhile life
The Zimbabwean health system collapsed and Jallohlaw has not been taking his psychotic medications, please ignore him, he is highly disturbed.
Zim Patriot, Maybe that is true. If you have a way for Tsvangarai to exercise this power i am sure that he would be all ears. He was elected leader by the good people of Zim but the police and Military were stopped from changing their leaders. His party was given no access to the country's funds (if there is any left) to start the rebuilding process. In turn this reflects on how the power of the people has not changed anything. all this because of the oppressive Regime that is now illegally in charge. The Police & Military are there for the Protection of all Zimbabweans Not to keep a certain party governing the country by intimidation. The funds of the country is the peoples money and is there to be put back into the economy to keep the jobs flowing and the meals on the of tables. Not for the bank accounts of the Murderers & Thieves of Zanu PF. As in all other democratic society's, the president or prime minister is only a spokes person for the people he represents not somebody that owns a country.
I personally would like to see the people march in the streets and demand change by voice as a tick in a box is obviously not enough. It is very clear to see that this would cause more murders and killings and then nothing will change again.
Which brings me to the only way i can see the power of the people being exercised. Foreign Military Intervention. This can be bloodless and quick which is what the people of Zim need. Mugabe should be removed from power and kept in the Hague until MDC and the people of Zim decide what to do with him. Weather it be he stays there or gets brought back to Zim for a peaceful retirement.
Sorry for the long winded comment. I am not a fan of things being changed through force but it is quite clear that this regime is happy to see Zim dissapear into oblivion and that i am disgusted at. Good luck to the people of Zim. Zim Patriot i am eager to hear how you think it should be handled.
The current rule of Robert Mugabe reminds me of the Reverend Jim Jones and the tragedy of Guyana. All the followers believed the Rev was anointed by God and followed him to the grave. This is a little similar to the situation in Zimbabwe where some people still support Mugabe even as Cholera, Aids and Starvation take the tolls. Current problems have indicated why countries should not belong to organizations like UN. AU, SADC...etc what a waste of money and time. The current crop of Africa leaders are of no use to democracy or Africa, WE NEED CHANGE NOT ONLY IN ZIMBABWE BUT AFRICA AS A WHOLE. I hope Western countries and can look to the plight of Zimbabweans abroad with benevolent eyes.
TOO MUCH TIME HAS BEEN WASTED ON THE SCUM!!
Hhmmm ... Just another slogan and whatever .. What do you achieve in practical terms except providing childish entertainment for the purile minds. How and when are you going to effect your noisy proposal? In the meantime maZimbabwe ari kutambura zva chose. PROSPECTS of an inclusive government looked slim yesterday despite optimism by South African President, Kgalema Motlanthe that the feuding political parties in Zimbabwe would merge this week.

Hallo, It is time the people of Zimbabwe see that noone is going to liberate then from this monster Mugabe. Botawana is the only country willing to say the truth as it is and tell Mugabe to leave because he and his ZANU-PF lost the March elections. Why should Mugabe invite Tswangirai into power-sharing government let alone dictate the make-up of the government when they lost the elections? This is just unbelievable and it typically shows an African logic and mentality that betrays justice and fellow Africans. This mentality has been used by foreigners like Arabs, Europeans and Asians to systematically enslaved and rape Africa economically, militarily, culturally, politically and morally throughout the ages. God gave Africa a lot of riches but we are the poorest continent on the planet because of this mentality of betrayal, especially the betrayal of justice and fellow Africans! So, the MDC should accetpt Botswana’s hospitality and form a government in exile. Those in the army, police and civil services should also take exile in Botswana. If Mugabe sends his henchmen into Botswana territory to persue the Zimbabweans then the UN will have a clear mandate to intervene. South Africa has been the biggest obstacle to finding peaciful solution to Zimbabwean crisis. So when we Zimbabweans start doing something ourselves we can also ask our friends all over the world to threaten boycotting the Olympics in South Africa, if South Africa does not play a fair role in the Zimbabwean problem.
Please, ndapota hangu mwanawewe ... Leave South Africa alone. The mess we are in is of our own making. Like pigs we shall remain in the mess till we decide otherwise. The MDC started a fight. They should then fight. Why do they start a fight and run behind Botswana etc? The MDC clearly, from the start, has been expecting other forces to fight for them. It has a lot about both national and international disputes. Every one comes in if they are going to get something out of it ... be it wealth, raw materials or just shayisano. Grow up.
If this is the kind of unenlightended advice that Tsvangirayi is getting then I am not surprised he is lost. According to the laws of Zimbabwe Mugabe won the Presidential election, courtesy of Tsvangirayi's ill-advised withdrawal. Tsvangirayi has now been given an opportunity, endorsed by SADC to join the government but he again seems to be ill-advised because he has refused the SADC ruling and yet he has no other credible alternative - a government in exile under the current circumstances would be illegal by international law and no country would recognize it. While Mugabe is certainly not managing the country well, unfortunately he appears to be the best that Zimbabweans have at the moment.
Tsvangirai pulled out of the run off election b/c too many people was dying and being tortured which is more than Mugabe choice to do. He just kills, steals and destroys everything and anything that does not agree with his ways. So Mugabe is president b/c he unleashed hell unto the people before the run off elections so they would vote for him or die...
SADC has proven it does not care for the people of Zimbabwe by backinging Mugabe as the legal president and pushing for a power sharing deal that Mugabe has already agreed to once then went back on his word... Mugabe cannot be trusted....
If Mugabe is the best you got then welll He will literally destroy Zimbabwe completely...

Mozambican President Armando Guebuza on Friday urged the major political parties in Zimbabwe, the ruling ZANU=PF and the Movement for Democratic change (MDC), which won the March general elections, to set up a power sharing government "without further delay".

The long or short term resolution is not a shared government b/c Mugabe has shown he is someone who is greedy and a power hungry mad man so the President of Mozambique should no after all the people coming from Zim to Mozambique that talking and a shared government will not help the people...
" .. (MDC), which won the March general elections, to set up a power sharing government "without further delay". .."
How convenient! How crafty.
But we have access to news too. For instance:
" ... run-off election held on 27 June 2008....the period prior to the run-off marked by violence; Tsvangrai, MDC and his handlers, the Western governments (who have imposed economic sanctions on Zimbabwe which have, as designed, lead to the deaths of thousands and devasted the country - ) have blamed ZANU-PF for the violence. .. Tsvangrai, MDC and the foreigners lost; Cde Mugabe and the people of Zimbabwe won that second round by an OVERWHELMING margin and Cde Mugabe was sworn in for another term as President on 29 June, 2008."

.
Simply democratic. And that is how the constitution of Zimbabwe works. That is how the laws of Zimbabwe are. Now, what refrain, and at what sound level, would we have had Tsvangirai and his band of foreign brigands been the winners by an overwhelming majority on June 27?
And we do not need pious foreigners - whose laws in their lands legalize racism, torture, victimization of some citizens, plunder of Africa, the pauperizing colonialism and the violent overthrow of democratically elected Allende of Chile and Hussein of Iraq - to preach to Africans about the "the rule of law", do we?
.
"Agencia de Informacao de Mocambique"? Yours is the "Agencia de MisInformacao de Mocambique" - a propaganda warfare machine set up by the enemies and plunderers and rapists and torturers and en-slavers and killers of the African Child.
And ancestor Kamuzu Banda knew your type: You are the hyena that urinates upwind to scatter the herd downwind.
very interesting that you folks in Africa are talking about, "thinking out of the box!" I recently attended a thinking out of the box conference in the USA and I suspect that thinking out of the box is pretty much the same around the world. So I would like to share the pictures I took while at the conference, but can't up load here so I do invite you to http://www.saintpeterii.com
