Not surprising: Four 'experts' and all of them hypocrites or probably fools. Is it really possible that 'experts' cannot discern that an embargo or economic sanctions imposed on a country leads to considerable difficulties for its citizens? Are economic sanctions meant to make a country prosperous? These 'experts' have no idea and they don't wish to find out. DIM.

Do these foreigners still take Africans for fools?

[Well, the Annans and Odingas and Tutus surely give a bad impression, don't they? Yet, that is what lackeys are expected to give - a bad impression.]

But we wonder:

1) Have these experts seen any human suffering in Iraq? Are they aware that a country was invaded and its people raped, tortured and killed - for their wealth? When is the last time they condemned the aggression?

2) If foreigners know how to help and rebuild a country, then why is it that their meek client states such as Haiti (the poorest country in the western hemisphere) and Odinga's Kenya (with unemployment above 70% and with looming ethnic slaughter just around the bend and the country firmly in the grip of UK) are no better off compared to Zimbabwe? Why can't the foreigners alleviate human misery, alleviate hunger, and cure the frequent occurrences of epidemics in those client (failed) states - just so that they have an example of their expertise to show us.

".. as millions face hunger. .." Over 5 million face hunger and starvation in pompous Odinga's Kenya. But Odinga, USA and UK would rather smear the good name of Cde Mugabe and impoverish the Zimbabweans. But Cde Mugabe is not causing the human misery in Kenya. So, what happened UK? Where were you UN? Why can't you assist your client states?

UN and its 'experts' don't know the rudiments of rebuilding a country, UN.

Zimbabwe needs no help from foreigners. Zimbabwe needs no 'expertise' from clueless UN nor the pompous and clueless foreigners whose economies are going down the drain alongside that of Zimbabwe. Zimbabweans can rebuild their land.

Chokora misses the point totally. First and foremost the the article states that the experts (yes experts) state that both the Zimbabwe government and the international community should do more... why then go into a rant about the experts not recognizing 'that an embargo or economic sanctions ...'? That is not what the experts are addressing here - they are looking at health delivery services and not politics. And they clear state that everyone involved should do more (primary school comprehension would help). Furthermore these are UN experts and not US gvt or EU experts (the targeted sanctions are not UN sanctions btw). The case against the Zimbabwe government is not about poverty, but about liberty, fair governance and the rule of law - so even if it were true that Kenya and Haiti are in the same poverty stricken situation as Zimbabwe is in, that does not absolve the of Zimbabwean government of the case it has to answer for. The Zimbabwean government and Mugabe has a case to answer for everyone dying of cholera and starvation. They are responsible for this economic collapse and the food shortages not any fabricated effects of personal and targeted sanctions. Chokora is either heavily deceived by government propaganda, or he is himself an architect of the deception.
