Why they can't be like Jakaya Kikwete? This is terrible when a person takes power without official election, Please AU should check his capabilities befor he rules the country. Is he educated? I don't think so, please help Madagascar people before they kill each other. They even cant run from that Island to find refuge nearby.

To make a mockery of the whole thing: the new president is not even of the constitutionally mandated age of 35 years. The new dude is only 33 or 34 years old. So he doesn't even meet the basic requirements. The whole thing couldn't be more fraudulent.

I don't approve the way Rajoelina took over the presidency in Madagascar either. If he thinks he can be a good leader, he should proceed peacefully and act responsibly. I understand that Marc Ravalomanana may not be the best president for Madagascar, but Rajoelina' s way of taking his seat is a real proof of dictatorship. Military are supposed to protect the people and show respect to the common goods. Looting Iavoloha is barbarian. It is embarrassing that the Malagasy who used to praise themselves as peace loving become dictators. Mr. Rajoelina and the military need to think about what they are doing so the innocent people won't suffer. Force is not the key! Peace, dialogue, self-respect, care for others will work better. What will they do to our country if they use force to get power? Mr. Rajoelina, please think twice because you may be doing exactely what you don't like in Mr. Ravalomanana. What is your motive? Do you really want to help the Malagasy? Please show it with example in a peaceful way. Thank you and May God protect our country.

Is The Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union joking or serious about expelling Madagascar from the comity of nations? For what?

SADC and AU could not handle the elections that were stolen by Mugabe but have they have the audacity and mind to interfere in Madagascar's affairs, where there was people's uprising similar to that in the Philippines. SADC and AU need to put their houses in order. First of all, Mugabe should not have become president of Zimbabwe. You have seen the end results, the Prime Minister's wife died mysteriously. Who next? May be it could be the Honorable Prime Minister.

During the struggle days of the Prime Minister and his wife, she did not die but just by becoming Prime Minister was a crime that he committed for which his wife has to pay the price. I give credits to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Prime Minister Raila Odinga who stood firmly against the Mugabe's crooked regime.

So if SADC and AU have nothing to discuss, let them keep quiet and find ways to improve the lives of millions of Africans who are in desparate need of education, health care, safe drink water, energy, telecommunications, transportation, farm to market roads, and other social services, etc.

Quite recently, the International Court have issued an arrest warrant for the President of Sudan. This man massacres his own people on a daily basis - yet AU has neither condemned nor taken any actions against their so called comrade. Since AU cannot handle her own affairs on the African Continent, let the international community take actions. Have you forgotten about Saddam Hussein very soon? AU should not be a disgrace to us and must endeavor to make sound decisions and utter annoucements and pronoucements that will make us all proud.

Sanctions? EVIL!

African following the wicked West to impose criminal sanctions to cripple Madagascar? Following evil examples of evil Europeans are a sure way to blunt African progress.

Let the people of Madagascar decide their fate!

SADC and AU, etc should be organizations that African peoples VOLUNTARILY enter in.

If Madagascar wants to follow their own path, the LET THEM!

Until Madagascar's problems become a clear and present problem of the neighbors, then Madagascar can ask for help if they want to do so FREELY.

The more immediate problem is the destructive and destabilizing role of the french criminals in Madagascar. Africans should go after the evil Europeans and let African people be.

SHAME, SHAME, DISGRACE AND TOTAL BACKWARDNESS!!!!! I wonder what Africa is up to when it is still holding to the guns for the sole motive of putting people in power whose mandate does not come from the masses, irrespective of the worsening situation the people live in. Africa will ever live in poverty and dictatorship as long as the military remains politicised, corrupt and only answerable to the powers that be. Containers of condemnations from all angles of mother Africa will have no rooms at the political harbour of Madagascar as they may just be laughed at and seen as the same old cries of despots and undemocrtic leaders telling the West that they are concerned and as clean as snow when their own backyards are stinky-smelling from all odours of mismanagement, corruption, incompetency and foul games. Africa needs a neo- revolutionary period, far distanced from violence or militocracy, that will put bread on the tables of the suffering poor.People like Mugabe, Ghaddafi, Yayah Jammeh and the like must make way for a better continent that needs to compete with the West on a clean-faced socio-economic terms not based on their rotten military backgrounds. It is really shameful that Africans are ever rich in "VIOLENCE-DNAS" since times undated. The time is ripe for the children of Arica to say "NO,NO,NO. IT'S ENOUGH!!!" to the system that has never put them forward. What a shame mother AFRICA!!!!!

The unlawful transfer of power from a democratically elected head of state can never be condoned at all. Not at a time when the continent is at a stage where democracy is taking root. The international community should not recognize the new leaders, and should actually sunction them from all multilaterals. Whose mandate does Rajoelina carry? This is a disgrace indeed!!

The outgong tyrant president was known as the "20% President". He was twisting arms of all significant potential investors to give him freely a 20% stake in their proposed ventures! Worse than tyrant Mugabe in the sense that the latter allowed his cronies also to loot.

SADC and the AU are out of touch with the misery of citizens in many African countries. It's not an election alone that brings in "democracy and respect of the rule of law"!

What can we expect from the AU when buffoon Quadaffi is in the chair?

Zimbos should get inspiration from the Malagasy experience and put an immediate end to the banana republic bloodstained rule of illegitimate Mugabe!

Undoubtedly, the arrogancy of Andry Rajoelina is nothing but greed,a politician without knowledge of rule of law or respect for the rule that propel democracy.Deposed mayor should be informed that his rebellion will be met and criticize by stakeholders and AU until he resign and denounce imposition.illegitimacy is unacceptable as all mechanism will be adopted until justice take its roots. If deposed mayor defiant to the call to respect the constitution of Madagascar he will be brought to face the wrath of the same constitution.defiant to respect the demand of the AU will amount to isolation by the international community, causing major economic chao ,that will definitely be resisted by the populace thereby causing unrest and instability in Madagascar a economic woe that will be inevitable is looming ahead if Andry defiantly impose his greedy ulterior motive. The impact of it might not be felt now but it should be noted that some element behind Andry could be likened to the perpetrators of Liberia war criminals, the truth behind Andry sponsors will be unveil when Andry clock turns anti clockwise, his coward face will confess within minutes of torture. It will be wise for whoever or organisation that financially and mentally sponsor Andry to reconsider and review such stance.Andry will be responsible for the crime just as Charles Taylor solely responsible for Liberia war crime.

Wrong. I'm a Malagasy and there's no comparing between Mugabe or Bashir with president Ravalomanana, a freely elected president. Mugabe and Bashir have their respective armies and Police forces as mainstay, right? That's exactly the case with the self-proclaimed president Rajoelina. When his violent street demonstrations had lost steam and failed to attract less than 2,000 people, he went into hiding at the French Embassy because of indictement concern over loss of hundreds of lives during riots and looting he set off on January 26. Strangely enough, France helped him out through bribing some army officers who toppled their Chief of Staff and Minister of Defence.

What happened in madagascar is very sad. This is a president who was elected in 2002 he roled for 5 years and was elected democractically for another 5years term, after just 6 years in power he has been overthrown by enemies of Africans.while we have africans leaders who have been in power for 40 years,30 years,27 years etc etc this really a shame to the African continent.why did the former major not accept the referendum proposed by the president?I suspect the hand of the french in this mess.I blame S.Africa,Nigeria and African union for not intervening to safe democracy.I donont know what Africans want.Yesterday they supported mugable who have been in power for 29 years to stay in power, but when it came to some one who came to power democratically, they allow him to fall what a shame.

I think this is the tie when SADC and AU can use the combined armies to remove people like this. It will not be a coup back a security issue. Leaders(heads of states) should be protected by these combined army of Africa. The AU and SADC needs to have teeth so that it can bite where neccessary its the only way to bring order and the rule of law to the whole of Africa that way people will not do stupid things like this.
