Human Rights Watch (Washington, DC)
19 May 2009
Rwanda's state-owned newspaper published an article by one of its editorial staff, Grace Kwinjeh, on May 8, 2009. The article accused Human Rights Watch of (among other things) sanitizing those attempting to negate the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.

A longlasting unity and reconciliation in Rwanda, will not come from the offices of HRW in washington. HRW risks undermining the incredible progress that Rwanda has achieved for the last 15 years in relation to building a stable society. HRW has been opposing GACACA from day one. HRW never, wanted to understand what GACACA means. HRW never gave meaningful proposals on how to deliver justice in Rwanda following the Genocide of abatutsi in 1994. One does not need to have a Phd to see that the concerned article clearley negates the genocide of Abatutsi. That ariticle could easy be seen as an insult to sools of those who perished in that genocide. It doesn't matter how many or what kinds of ariticles that the HRW writes. Nothing is going to set Rwanda back. We all understand that these kinds of aricles are not intended for constructive discussions but to stir up troubles, the more reason why HRW will keep on writing.
Many thanks
