Question for Rafil and Jallohlaw - are you guys comfortable with the fact that there is currently one million Chinese agricultural workers in Africa? Are you OK with the concept that Chinese investment most often comes with the condition that China will supply the labour component? Are you guys happy that countries such as China, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have bought in excess of 20 hectares of freehold land in Africa and elsewhere so that they can grow food which is then sent back to their countries although the host nations may be suffering from a food deficit?

Don't get me wrong - I don't for one minute believe that Western investment is undertaken for purely altruistic reasons, but I caution you to spend a little more time to study the nature of current Sino-African involvement. The political costs may not be there,but the economic and long term development costs are huge.
