The seeming indifference of the Federal Government to the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which led to the recent declaration of 'total and indefinite strike' by the union, is another demonstration of insensitivity by government to the condition of the education sector particularly and the plight of Nigerians generally, which should be condemned.

The question i would love to ask the Government is how many of them, are there children attending Nigerian University? Cos if they are our University would have grown higher than it is now.
To whom it may concern
Please, this strike is affecting our educational chemistry seriously, Government should try and help us so that we can be good graduates so that we can be good graduates to help Nigeria in future. For the betterment of Nigeria.
The more you stay at home doing nothing, the more useless you are because all sort of evil will flow into our minds. Please help us!
The government should try and do something about this strike by signing whatever ASUU demands. They should know that the students are the future tommorow. They should know that without students there is no future government. And our economic strategies will be in junks
i wish i woke up one day and find these country wiped away like that in the days of Noah, i don't believe those in nigerian politics or affairs have any positive to offer to their own people but to enslave them by looting and sharing among their family, ofcourse the strike would never affect them, because with their looting, they can afford to send their children and siblings abroad another country where people with great mind and courage fought hard to built and where they have mentors and followers who follow by thier lead. but here, why won't they emulate the looters, because they tend to become a king in duisguise...... Nigeria can never get better, am sure you wonder why? when the same people are recycled to be in power and given the order to loot, they will never sit on a round table and profer solution, but when it's sharing the loot, am sure they have the idea to do that..... long live this God forsaken country......
Am ejiro by name, a student of DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY. Actually i want2 enphasize and talk more abt dis illicit strike by ASUU & the GOVT.. First of all i want2 say am not happy at all about this strike, dis strike has caused a lot of damage in 'student life'. The proces whereby we are suppose 2be in school studyin 4d betterment of this country, at the end they appreciate our effort by punishin us wit the so called STRIKE. Because of the strike also some student cant write their POST UME, which is a set bak 4 them. Plz d govt shuld do something abt this coz it is not encouragin at all. Even if there is fall in price of petroleum in the internation market,i think we have Agriculture but our leader don't want to invest in the future but to their own benefit time,And i don't see any reason why Federal Government should not dance to ASUU tune. Why can't all the money going into the pocket of all the desperate politician for unreasonable project goes into education since we say education is our future. This is the first time Nigeria will be ruled by educated people still this seen to be hinder the progress of education, what a shame. With this situation,Nigerian youth hope has been castrated coz our sky make may not be safe to fly anymore... As we'll say, Education is the best,we have lecturer with degrees, phd, prof earning less than a chairman of a local, i mean local government, an honourable with ordinary school cert and some colleges.. Come to think about this, how many state governor's have a degree in any field? Few. And we say education is our future. That's economical with the truth because education don't seem to be encouraging.. It will be of a better and great benefit if government answer the called of ASUU and increase the budget for education instead of spending money where plants can't germinate.
The government of this country never take education seriously that's why whenever (asuu) asks for money to upgrade the educational system in the country the government keep giving excuses, well i wont blame them just because they have the money to send their own children outside the country to study in standard tetiary institution, so they forget about poor masses which is not fair.pls i beg that government officials should consider us by paying the money (asuu)asked for so that we can go to our various school to commence lectures.

The education system in Nigeria has been a victim of militarism from Babangida to modern times . I wonder if anyone can still remember when ,under the military in the eighties the Universities and education institutions in the country was relegated to abysmal level to the point most of then resorted to awarding honorary degrees to importers and military men just to raise money to stay afloat.
That was the genesis of Dr. so and so which dominted the prefix of most traders, politicians and military generals in the country till today. These regimes have no respect for education , neither do they understand that the future of the nation rest squirely on educating the youths . The University of Lagos was so impoverished along with other universtities then that the authorities virtually 'begged' the military leaders who were awash in money from allocating oil sales to themselves. to allocate some petroleum sales to the institutions so they can raise funds for the institutions survival. The front line for racket then within the military brass was oil banditary. They were the great merchants but did not see reason to allocate same to anyone outside the membership.
That was then. Military officials and their cronies got so rich with nothing in the brain , university professors struglled so hard to keep the only national hope alife by building the bridge for the future one brick at a time . The result today has left severe scar on the nations pride , the quality of our educational system . If our educational institutions had the attention necessary for it to grow, there probably would have been little or no reason for the mirage of private instutions that now mushroom in the counry. These instututions have the tendency to produce highly stratisfied society and social problems in future.
The very regimes that robbed the nation ruthlessly are also the group that patronize these expensive private institutions. They're the same people whose children spread all over the universities in Europe and America .
The community schools in the country have been abandoned. The buildings and general infrastructure look like war zone and teachers with their dedication as poor as church rats.
A nation with no priority for education and research have no place in modern world . India , China , America (to whom succeeding Nigerian presidents worship)look up to their education institutions for support and hope . It seem like the wrought of military experience will continue to hunt the nation untill every one of these morons is out of the way. The endless story of corruption within the current government and the inability to do anything concrete to curtain it , instead we are innundated with quarrelsone senate and house members that make ridicule of the essence of these chambers is a joke . Yet the nations resource is wasted in paying these men . There is no alternative to reviving the quality of education in the country, anything short of that is shortsighted and sucidal
