The entry of China into Nigerian oil indusry is a welcome phemenon. I worked with British Petroleum after leaving high school at the Apapa installation in the sixties as a young man and my job included import and distribution.

At that time , Foreign oil companies in would export our oil to their home based refineries and only to re-import the finished product for marketing in Nigeria At the same time , liquified petroleum gas was being imported from these British companies overseas while the nations massive gas was being inflamed to waste at Eleme with no desenting voice from Nigerian mangers and directors in these oil industries.

This practise continued long after the oil companies had Nigerianized most of their operation in the country. The companies were so smart to give these Nigerain MDs good perks which made them look more like local colonial masters . They had no idea of what goes on in board rooms and lacked the technical knowledge to represent nations developement goals within the Oil industry. Most of these directors again were retired army generals .

The result is the culture of perpetual gas shortage in a country with large scale oil production .If China had come into the oil industry in the country long ago , infact at the same time Wahuum came in,we would have had more gas today than Generators . Moreover , investors in the country would have more resourses to operate instead of trying to acquire huge generator for power suply thus depeleting the available money to invest .

The Chinese presence in our national developement must be encouraged, they're more than portfolio investors. We would have gone very far if former colonial Masters had not brainwashed us into a marriage of convinence with Britain , America France Italy and ofcourse Germany to certain extent . Look at where all the money looted from the country are, Banks in these countries knew that these funds came from the NIgerain economy and represent capital flight. Yet they welcomed the rogues and used our money to advance their industrial growth. The Chinese regard those who loot the nation as economic sabotage and rightly so, they put them to death.
