Hey Tezvara Phiri ... whilst you are at it, please would you ask them why there were never ever Apartheid diamonds and aprtheid gold? Why? The driving forces behind the partition of Africa in the mid 1800s is still at work in the mind of Europeans wherever they are ... eg, CapeTown or LondoUK. For these people it is a case of 'alta continua' on the African race.
The FACT of the matter is a British Company that has a lease on the Diamond mining area is behind the lobby thru the Diamond Monitoring Body..The British company was denied the right to mine by the Zimbabwean Gov't. To say that these are "Blood Diamond" is totally false.
SADC countries using their power saw to it that the ban never happened and that Zimbabwe would move on to mine diamonds. Maybe the British and their "phoney" NGO will finally learn which fights to pick and which one's to avoid.
