Greetings in the Light and Sound of God. It is very sad to see what is happening to our dear motherland. Nigeria is a wonderful place that is blessed on thie earth. However, Nigerians failed to realize how blessed we are. What is so difficult for all of us to realize that we are all created by God. You can call God whatever you want, Allah, Yaweh, Jah, Chineke, Abasi, Sugmad or however it pleases you; it does not change what God is - the creator of all and we the creation. God's love is not limited to Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buhdists, Eckists or any group that you belong to. Why can't we respect each other and value each other as all souls. Pointing fingers and blaming each other will not solve our problems. Trying to find out who is wrong or right will never cause the violence to stop. There is none of us so right that no wrong could be found in us, and none of us so wrong that no right could be found in us. Therefore, we must learn to accept each other's short comings and accord one another the freedom and respect that we all want for ourselve. Remember the Golden rule, which by the way, is found in all religions that exist on this universe: "Do unto others as you will like them do unto you" May the blessings be.
hello folks, what a mess...this is thus a proof of lack of concept. which common nigerian has got an idea of democracy? who knows his or her rights.
movement can only come to success where people have ideals and visions, but our people can not be blamed...cause they don`t know better...
What a shame and pity that Nigeria who claims to be the giant of Africa cannot orgonize a fair election. When the United States predicted that in the very near future Nigeria will break up, many were skeptical. But the truth is that it is very likely to happen judging by the way politicians are doing things-- rigging of elections and other forms of corruption, and how they are protected from prossecution by those in authority.
This situation in Jos will be nothing compared with what will surely happen if Nigeria politicians refuse to do things right. The painful thing though is that the innocent continue to be the victims. I could have been very happy if the victims of this type of crises are the politicians and members of their family. Nigeria is ripe for a revolution, and how I wish it is already happening.
Giant of Africa or paper giant of Africa? It is always the north.Religiosity, illiteracy, suspicion of anything southern etc, etc.
THIS IS A TESTING OF ARMS. PLEASE LET NO ONE BE WORRIED. IN THE NEXT ELECTION LET PDP WIN IT AGAIN. THEN WE ALL IN NIGERIA WE SE WHAT IS WAR. UNCOMPARABLE. ANYONE CAN IGNORE THIS OR DELATE IT, I DONT CARE.
WAR WILL BE WHENEVER WE HAVE THAT NONSENCE ELECTION AGAIN IN THIS COUNTRY. NO ONE IF FOOL AGAIN. WE ARE ALL EYE OPENNED NOW AT YOU PDP LISTS.
GOD SAVE NIGERIA.
We must face the fact and stop fooling ourselves. Nigeria is not and can never be one nation. It's high time we understood this. There are at least three nations in this country. WE MUST BREAK UP QUICKLY!
weather we like it or not, god made us to leave to gether, so is time to understand the nuture of this world, we are not here for ever, oneday we will all die!!! defentily this world will come to and end!! so why are we killing our self becouse of metrial world.... please and please lets be our brothers keepers.
Fellow Nigerians I think that this is time we all unite as one nation without any tribal or religious hatred.Yes I think is time we seek God whole heartedly in each election that will be conducted and stop taking brib from a contesting candidates.
It is sad that at this age and time we are held to insane thoughts that the premises of religion holds the key to our political and economic freedom. The greedy leaders that have wrecked our economies are free of destruction that the common man that builds the society suffers. As a former resident of Jos, I am shocked that such as beautiful place has been torn into ground of havoc. We as people need to move forward not kill forward.

what bugs my mind is that with all this happening, we hardly hear the voice of a muslim leader calling for 'calm' or 'peace.' do these leaders really exist? a stark similarity to muslim fundamentalism and terrorism elsewhere around the world!
The current Nigerian religious violent rest in the hands of those who created diversity from day One of Nigerian independence. The far Northern region thinks that Nigeria true and true belongs to them alone. Let's every Nigerian think again or think very fast while the Ibos went to war,and that war has nothing to do with oil. But for every Nigerian to realised that we are not ONE and will never be. The ibos should have been left alone to create their own destiny. And that opportunity could have been the best solution for the Middlebelt, South, East and West to governed their region. Where are those who supported the cause of ONE Nigeria to stand. Oh! yes, at 48 yrs of independence we have never found a common clue or solution to Nigerian problems. Thank God, Nigeria we held thee.

The Plateau State Government has ordered security operatives comprising men of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, and Mobile Police to 'shoot on sight' anybody fomenting crisis or defying the curfew order imposed on the state capital, Jos. The order was the government's latest response to end the riot in Jos, which death toll, as at yesterday evening, had risen to 350.

Olowo is right and has a strong message he is conveying......Now the western media has given little or no attention to the tragedy in Jos but has focused on Bombay(Mambai) India the situations are similar in that innocent masses of people were murdered and lost of property occurred in an evil and sinister fashion. There is an encripted message in that.Nigeria is beginning to look like another of Africas Failed States. All along I have felt that Africans are Genetically Engineered and pre programmed to self destruct. Olowo was correct about Jos several years I visited Jos a cool, quiet harmonous town with a slow pace and clean..
the way and rate the killing of innocent civillians at slightest opportunity ,in the name of religion, are getting into, without any serious federal govt measures to guide future occurrances.there is need to legalised armes especailly for chriatians in the north to have some kind of self defence
Heeeeeey my people how long will the government use us to fulfill their dirty so called POLITICS.Take a pause and read the article ones more and see among hundreds of people that died, the people their personalities showed to be remembered were the 2 generals coming back to jos.Still the real question should have been "we don´t have companies that deals on amunition, but there is more amunition on the streets more than in Las Vegas"this politicians use people to clear themselves of their blames. But the same people enters the office and can´t recall how many people that payed with their lives to pave way for him to be there. He will just want to have the real aroma of NAIRA.But its just a shame that people are still dancing to their tune of dirty music they keep playing every 4years.Why would people kill each other for some one that just gave them gun to do so and end up feeling guilty of blood they wasted.Lets take our attention to THAILAND well BANGKOK to be precise and see where people old and young are having one mind and attitude towards what they want or what they don´t want.In Nigeria everything ends with what I want and not what WE want. After America election here in Spain i celebrated with Nigeians and people from all over the world andi know in Nigeria it was the same kind of atmosphere but now the next one news for the world to read is about a local government not even presidential election sacrificed with hundreds of people.Just take this assignment and try to do it one day.Wake up and face the mirrow one early morning before meeting any other person ASK that face you see on the mirrow."WHAT DO YOU WANT IN LIFE" I bet you will get a positive answer than when people tell you what to do.............WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE

THE INEC SHOULD PURSUE A SERIOUS ELECTORAL REFORM TO SANITIZE OUR ELECTORAL PROCESS. I, THEREFORE, RECOMMEND THAT PROF. IWU (The INEC Chairman ) SHOULD TAKE HIS STAFFS TO USA TO LEARN HOW TO CONDUCT ELECTIONS WITHOUT VIOLENCE.Mazianyaogu writes from USA
We can never have free and fair elections as long as PDP is in power in Nigeria because it is a party of those who believe in violence
We need credible elections in Nigeria. Jos violence is the fist test of Yar Adua's presidency. Where Sarki Mukhtar the National Security Adviser, He should have briefed the President that Jonah Jang is a religious terrorist
Could Alhaji Victor Okon, the Muslin spokesman in Jos tell us what was responsible for Islamic terrorism in other parts of the North - in Kafanchan, in Malumfashi, in Zangon Kataff, in Sokoto, in Bauchi, in Maiduguri, in Zaria, in Kaduna, in every nook and corner of the far-North. To some people who believe that ruling Nigeria is their birth-right, free election means nothing. As we have seen, when they say one thing, they mean another, be it Babangida or Ya ' Ardua. Excision is the answer. They are not actually Nigerians. They are from Dafor, Chad and Niger. That is why they behave like mercenaries and parasites wrt nation building peace and harmony. Major Gideon Okar and his colleagues (of blessed memory) had the answer. They lived beyond their time. THE EXCISIONIST
The ignorance of our people is palpable. Rather than demonstrating, peacefully, for their economic viability and democratic emancipation, our Politicians have done it again – inciting their thugs against their perceived opponent’s thugs, in the names of religions that cares little about them, In fact, the two religions (Xtianity and Islam) are foreign to African culture yet were used to enslave them both by the Europeans and the Arabs, alike. Even the Arabs don't kill themselves as ferociously as our people does come election time. To those lambasting the messenger – Prof Iwu – what is INEC got to do with religious violence in the name of electoral rigging when the politicians are bent on winning by any means necessary. I won’t be surprised if Atiku and his henchmen are behind this just to demonstrate their relevance in today's Nigerian polity by inciting area boys to destabilize and confuse the process while the politician hang back watching with glee as the nation burns and the international comunity wrings its hands in guilt and give concession that would allow the politicians to have their way, as Atiku did prior to the 2007 general election for the presidency. That is poliical blackmail similar to the Terrorist tactics - "if I don't get my way, you will never know peace." Its about time we put our collective foot down and refuse to dance to their tune. We should also make sure that the politicians behind this violence that caused loss of human lives are rooted out and severely punished as deterent to others - life-for-life.
The issue in jos is not about inec, but about the religious intolerance of mostly moslems, why kill christians and burn churches over an election whose results haven't even been announced??? what about the mercenaries being imported from neighbouring bauchi state???
It is not true that the PDP candidate was widely believed to have won the election conducted by the Plateau State Electoral Commission controlled by the PDP. The crux of the matter is that Jos North Local Government is dominated by Muslims while the surrounding areas outsude Jos North are Christian dominated. The Christians are determined to take over Jos North by whatever means despite the fact that it is Muslim majority. We must not forget that Plateau State is the only Nigeria where the Christian elites have perpetrated ethnic cleansing, and it was the rising international outrage against Yelwan Shendam masacre of Muslims by Christians that made President Obasanjo to declare State of Emergence in the state. Jonah Jang is worse than Dariye in terms of religious fanaticism.
Victor Okon, you are very ignorant. First of all concerning Jonah Jang and Jos North. Jos North is not dominated by Muslims, what about the Jarawas???? and other tribes such as Igbos and Yoroubas???? It is just that the Hausa Muslims are determined to cause trouble. Remember that even before the election results where released, they had started burning churches and houses and businesses of innocent people. What do churches have to do with election results??? Like someone asked, why are political offices not burnt???
It is unfortunate that we keep killing ourselves in Nigeria. The Christian missionaries are the ones that spread hatred in Central Nigeria. A very good example is Father Mathew Hassan Kukah who preaches hatred of Fulani and Muslims wherever he gets the opportunity.
Thisday report is not correct i am resident of Jos North Local Government. Violent youths were imported from surrounding local government areas to prevent the emergence of a Muslim as the Chairman of Jos North LG. This is the crux of the violence.
Calvary greetins To whom ever that comes across this. Nigeria as a nation has a very long way to go in order to become what was made for the country to be.It is a deceit to let the whole world believe that this riot in Jos is a politcal riot.It is centered on the body of Christ ( the Christians)The people that are being killed were not politicians, but Christians, and no tangible efforts is being made to save Christains. Pastor Emmanuel Aniche.
