The present report is submitted pursuant to Security Council resolution 1778 (2007), by which the Council requested me to report to it every three months on the security and humanitarian situation in eastern Chad, the north-eastern Central African Republic and the region, including movements of refugees and internally displaced persons and progress made in creating security conditions conducive to their voluntary return. The report covers major developments since my report of 1 April 2008 (S/2008/215), including the deployment of the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT), the European Union-led military force (EUFOR Chad/Central African Republic) and the Détachement intégré de sécurité (DIS).
