Before the inauguration, President-elect Kufuor made a point of stressing that he would accord outgoing President Rawlings all the respect due to an ex-president, a commitment which impressed many, given the trenchant language used during the election campaign. Kufuor visited Rawlings at The Castle, the seat of government and Rawlings' official residence, in Accra on Wednesday, January 3.
