New Documentary Shows Africa's Business Side

Journalist Carol Pineau wanted to show viewers the "other side" of Africa, the stories she knew existed after more than a decade of reporting on the continent but seldom saw reflected in media coverage. In an interview with AllAfrica, she discusses why she made her documentary and how disproportionately negative perceptions affect the way Africa is treated.

Adenike Ogunlesi (right) founded Ruff 'N' Tumble, a Nigerian children's clothing company. "We don’t export now. Export all along the West African coast, yes, but to America or to England, I’m not interested. I have the potential of a huge market here."

Ndaba Ndlovu (left) is managing director of Touch Adventure in Livingstone, Zambia. "Touch Adventure is a very small, dynamic company. We emphasize what we call hardcore adventure activities, white water rafting, which happens to be our main product."

Mohammed Yassin Olad (right) is CEO of Somalia's Daalo Airlines. "We started in 1991 after the collapse of Somali government and the collapse of Somali airlines. When we started there wasn’t anyone, and now there are five carriers in Somalia competing in that market."
