Nigeria: Sowemimo, Ex- Nigerian Chief Justice, Dies at 77

LAGOS, Nigeria (PANA) — Justice George Sodeide Sowemimo, a retired Nigerian Supreme Court judge and Chief Justice of the federation from 1983 to 1985 has died, aged 77, his family announced Wednesday.

His younger brother, Soniran told reporters that the judge died Saturday at the federal medical centre in Nigeria's western city of Abeokuta, his home. He had complained of tiredness and passed on three hours after admission at the medical centre, the junior Sowemimo said, adding that the family was to meet on the funeral arrangements.
