WINDHOEK, Namibia (PANA) — African politicians have been accused of
trying to
find a scapegoat for the economic failure the world is experiencing currently
and use gays and lesbians as weapons, a gay rights advocate said.
"Most African countries suffered over the last 10 years as a result of the
decisions made by the International Monetary Fund therefore we have to
learn to
separate economic issues from sexual orientation," Scott Long, Europe's
advocacy
coordinator and regional specialist of the International Gay and Lesbian Human
Rights Commission, said.
