Kampala — The commercial helicopter purchase by Uganda and Rwanda from Belarus has continued to rock top echelons of the defence ministries in both countries. In Uganda, after much criticism, the Government opted to return the Mi-24 helicopters for overhauling to the manufactures in the former Soviet Union.
The initial investigation into the issue established that the fighter helicopters were not overhauled and the cost was inflated by nearly 60%. Security sources in Kampala said investigations continue.
