Africa: Kalulushi stars hold Zanaco

Lusaka — Former international Gibby Mbasela was the main focus when Kalulushi Modern Stars held Zanaco to a goalless draw at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka yesterday.

Mbasela out from active soccer for more than two seasons, after recovering from a kneel injury, was able to finish the 90 minutes of the game and ascertained himself well on the pitch.

It was also the debut game for the unsettled Masautso Tembo of Zanaco signed from Nchanga Rangers but the international striker was pulled out of the game in the 63rd minute for Fidelis Kayula.

Also in the terrace was Dabwitso Nkhoma, the former Zanaco player, now playing in Mexico.

Across town at Edwin Imboela Stadium, Nkhwazi were rewarded with a 11 draw against league leaders Nkana.

It was a remarkable result for a team that was handed out a 50 bashing by Kabwe Warriors last week leading to the dismissal of their coach Shadreck Phiri.

But their performance was a shadow of themselves and only managed to be saved by a penalty awarded to them in the 87th minute and taken by their skipper Oswald Mutapa after Nkana led with a 25th minute Gift Kampamba goal.
