Maseru — Ahead of the 7th All Africa Games to be hosted in South Africa next month, two of the leading United States of America baseball coaches have arrived in the country to assist the country's national Baseball team.

The two leading coaches will be engaged in training the national side for two weeks in preparation for the continent's major games to be held in Gauteng from September 10-19. Father and son, Frank and Jason Wright have been sent here as part of the US Major Baseball League programme to different countries in the world to assist in developing the sport in countries like Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Frank Wright said they are helping this baseball team before they go to All Africa Games. He also added that he and his son Jason Wright are trainers in baseball sporting activity in California.

They are to leave the country on August 18. He said due to the players willingness to learn more about the sport, improvement was being realised.

He also said the players were showing positive signs as they are fully motivated through hard work. He said it is their first time to be in Lesotho and commended Basotho as a peaceful nation and friendly.

He assured the nation that the team will perform to the best of its ability. He instilled a spirit of motivation and a sense of pride among the players who qualified and booked themselves a place in the 7th All Africa Games, promising that the country will earn some gold medals and make history on the world sport.

One of the players Lekhoa Mpota said they are very glad to work with the visiting coaches. He hoped that they will play well in the tournament.

"The spirit in the team is very high since the two Americans arrived," he said. The coaches have also supplied the players with additional equipment like bats and T-balls.

Bahlakoana Shelile vice president of baseball said Frank and Jason are more experienced and they can motivate players while at the same time training. He said after Frank and Jason have gone back to California, they will have two coaches still from America, who will be with them in All Africa games.

Their names are Alfred Brown and Tony Trocelli. Shelile said that before they go to the tournament they will have the last warm up match in Natal and the team will leave Lesotho on September 6th for the All Africa Games.
