Tunisia: Etoile Sahel Coach Quits After CAF Cup Exit

The coach of the Tunisian side, Etoile Sportive Sahel, Lofti Benzarti has resigned following the club's exit in the CAF Cup quarter-finals as title holders.

Benzarti has handed in his shock resignation to Etoile president, Othman Jenayeh, who failed to persuade the coach to stay on.

But Benzarti said he will not continue, following serious threats by fans, who have become hostile after the defeat.

Jenayeh, however, said he will not relent persuading Benzarti to continue his job until the end of the season.

Etoile could be without a head coach for Wednesday night's league match against US Monastir in Sousse.

Etoile's dreams of winning a CAF Cup hat-trick were dashed last Friday by Algerian side, Jeunesse Sportive Kabilye after a penalty shoot-out in Sousse.

Imed Medhebi tied both legs at 1-1 through his 70th minute strike for Etoile. But the Tunisians missed two penalties and JSK won the shoot-out 4-1 to reach the semi-finals.
