Harare — The Democratic Republic of Congo never promised to repay
Zimbabwe for its efforts in the Great Lakes conflict and there was
certainly no "verbal agreement" between the two SADC allies for
compensation to be paid to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, the Zimbabwe
Independent has been told.
Last week Finance minister Simba Makoni told parliament that Zimbabwe
had spent $10 billion in the DRC and had a verbal agreement with
Kabila's government on reimbursement.
