Uganda: Ten Die in Bundibugyo

Bundibugyo — At least 13 people have died of cholera at a crammed camp for the internally displaced people in Kabutabwe Bubandi in Bundibugyo district. Mr. Oscar Tibunsara, the camp's health worker, said another 19 people were admitted to Nyahuka Health Centre. Many of the victims were said to be in critical condition. Mr. James Agaba, the district deputy director of health services, attributed the fresh out break of the epidemic to lack of sanitary facilities in the camp. There are more than 150,000 people displaced by the Adf war in Bundibugyo district. The displaced live in more than 35 jammed camps without adequate sanitary facilities like toilets. Over 50 people have died of cholera in Bundibugyo in the last few months.
