Morocco: Compulsory Health Insurance To Be Modeled On Private Sector And CGEM Proposals

Algiers — The draft compulsory health insurance law has been modeled on proposals from the Employers Federation (CGEM) and private insurance companies, and it rejects a monopolistic approach in favor of delegating management of the scheme to a National Health Insurance Agency (ANAM).

The draft law would prohibit risk selection by insurers and would cover working or retired civil servants, private sector workers who are declared to the National Social Security Authority (CNSS), the self-employed, professionals, and tertiary students not otherwise covered.
