Angola: Benguela Registers 400 Malaria Cases

Benguela, Angola — About 400 cases of malaria have been registered this month in the municipal hospital of Chongoroi of Angola's Benguela Province.

The director of the hospital, Joaquim Cipriano, attributed the rising incidence of malaria in the region to rains and poor sanitation.

The health authorities have also recorded a high number of people infected with diarrhoea, respiratory diseases and malnutrition.

Cipriano further said that the hospital needs medical and food support as well as surgical equipment, beds, clothes and mattresses.
