Ethiopia Draws Second Game in Africa Youth Championship

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — Ethiopian youth soccer team Wednesday night rallied from behind to earn a point, finishing their second match in Group A in a 2-2 draw against Egypt at the ongoing 12th African Youth championship.

The Ethiopians, who are now third in their four-nation Group, having lost their opening match to Cameroon, lost a penalty in the dying minute of Wednesday's game, to the disappointment of an estimated 35,000 home crowd.

The first-half was lacklustre despite the goal scored by the Egyptians in the 18th minute.

Playing defensive, the Egyptians made it difficult for the homeboys to penetrate their defence, with the first-half ending 1-0.

The Egyptians got their second goal within three minutes in the second stanza.

But the game was interrupted shortly afterwards by power outage that lasted for some 28 minutes at the Addis Ababa Stadium.

When play resumed, the Ethiopians mounted pressure forcing the Egyptians to concede a penalty, which was converted by Ethiopian striker Henafi Girma, to make the scores 2-1.

Seven minutes later, Ethiopia scored the equaliser with a close range shot.

The Egyptians conceded another penalty in the dying minute of the game, but Girma lost the chance to give the home boys victory.

The four teams in Group B will play their second matches of the tournament Thursday. Ghana will lock horns with Nigeria, while Mali tackles Angola
