Nairobi — The league continued over the weekend, despite a court injunction filed in a Kisumu court by Re-Union who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Re-Union chairman, Mark Ageng said he took the Kenyan federation to the courts to ensure that appeals lodged by his club were treated.
But his actions are contrary to FIFA and KFF statutes, which bar football teams from taking matters to court. In 1998, Mumias Sugar took the KFF to court and were suspended for two weeks.
On the pitch, AFC Leopards opened a three point lead at the top thanks to a rare goal by defender Joseph Akinga. But, the biggest climbers are Coast Stars who moved six places up despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Kisima Bombers.
Meanwhile, a lobby group representing 11 clubs and calling itself Inter-Clubs Consultative Group are pressing for what they say would be a better way to run the Premier League.
Part of their aim is to receive more funds from sponsorship and a revision of the timetable of international players who are faced with a tight playing schedule five matches in nine days. The group has forwarded their complains to FIFA and CAF.
