Tunis, Tunisia — Esperance Sportive of Tunis defeated visiting Niger's J.S Tenere 1-0 in their first leg match of the African soccer champions League played Saturday at the El Menzah Olympic Stadium in the Tunisian capital.
Ali Zitouni scored the only goal of the match with a header in the 45th minute.
Although the Tunisians dominated the game, the tight defence of their opponents accounted for the low score.
The return leg is in two weeks' time in Niger.
