The Somali Reconciliation and Restoration Council (SRRC) has condemned the TNG for the recent increase in fake currency brought into Somalia, and accused it of stirring up more conflict in Somalia.
In a statement issued from Baidoa, southern Somalia, the SRRC said the TNG, which it called the "Arta group", had contributed to instability in Somalia.
The statement, issued on 18 April, said the SRRC would take the path to peace and reconciliation, and organise the formation of a representative government which would respect the existing regional administrations. It said the TNG had used Ethiopia and established regional administrations in Somalia as a scapegoat for its own mistakes.
The statement called on donors and aid agencies not support the "Arta group", as it was creating instability in Somalia. It also called on the governments of Egypt and Saudi Arabia to stop supporting the interim government, which was "busy trying to restart the civil war".
The SRRC consists of faction leaders opposed to the TNG. It has a rotating chairman, who is presently the Mogadishu-based faction leader, Husayn Aydid. The SRRC has been meeting in Baidoa.
