Angola/Cameroon: Cameroon's National Team Departs Portugal for Luanda

Yaounde, Cameroon — The Cameroonian national football team, the "Indomitable Lions", departed Portugal Thursday for Luanda for a 2002 World Cup qualifier match with the Angolan national squad "Palancas Negras" on Sunday.

The team was initially slated to camp at a local bank facility at Nkol Nkie in the suburb of Yaounde, but was transferred to Portugal.

Portugal was chosen "to facilitate the gathering of Cameroonian professionals, most of whom play in European clubs," the youths and sports ministry said.

Reports say while the technical staff was in good shape, the team's medical staff was facing some difficulties after the retirement of its head doctor.
