Nairobi — A memorial service for the late Laity Kama, a judge and former
president of the UN's International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda
(ICTR), was held yesterday at a funeral parlor in Nairobi, Kenya.
Judge Kama was 62 when he died on Sunday. He had served as the ICTR's
first president from 1995 through 1999 and was widely respected and
revered by his colleagues, as evidenced by his election to the
tribunal's top post for two consecutive terms.
