Lesotho/Ghana: Ghana Stay With Home-Based Plan for Lesotho

Accra — Fred Osam-Duodu has invited a largely home-based Ghanaian side for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Lesotho in Kumasi on June 17.

Osam-Duodu has made only few changes to the team that defeated Zimbabwe 2-1 in Harare on Sunday by inviting three foreign-based players in his 23-man squad.

Parma midfielder, Stephen Appiah, Czech Republic-based Baffour Gyan and Emmanuel Duah of Portuguese side, Leiria have been called for the match.

Ghana have already qualified for the Nations Cup after beating Zimbabwe and the match against Lesotho is only a formality, but the Southern Africans need to win if they are to qualify.

Zimbabwe and Congo Democratic Republic, who face each other in Kinshasa on the same day are also in contention for a place in Mali.

Osam-Duodu has dropped defender Kenneth Abbabio of Goldfields and Spain-based Edu Gyamfi Granini from Atletico Madrid's youth side.

Most of the regular foreign-based players are on vacation and Osam-Duodu has not invited them after they had excused themselves for the Zimbabwe game to relax.
