Ghana: Pick-Up for St. Joseph's Hospital

The Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr. Craig Murray, last Friday presented a Toyota pick-up vehicle valued at ¢105 million to the St. Joseph's Catholic Hospital, Nkwanta in the Volta Region. Rev. Sister Comfort Afedzi of the hospital received the vehicle.

The presentation was the culmination of discussions held between Mr. Murray and Rev. Sister Afedzi. During an earlier trip to the Volta Region, Mr. Murray visited the hospital and realising the need for equipment and supplies promised to seek help for it. Mr. Murray said that he was happy to be making "a sensible contribution to the development of the area."

Speaking during the presentation, Rev. Sister Afedzi said she was grateful to the High Commission for the donation which she hoped would make their outreach work more effective by enabling them to reach hitherto inaccessible places.

Average attendance at the Nkwanta St. Joseph's Hospital is 1300 patients a month. The hospital's catchment area is Nkwanta and its surrounding communities.
