Cairo — The international alliance intended to combat terrorism is practically illegitimate and ineffective unless there is world consensus on the definite conception of "terrorism" . There should be clear-cut divides that do not allow any mixing up between terrorism and rightful resistance against occupation.
Hence, it is inevitable for decision-makers to be attentive and fully aware that forging lucid and accurate definition of terrorism has grown an indispensable matter. That is necessary so as a suspect notion of terrorism be not imposed on our Arab and Islamic world.
We mean that sort of notorious explanation of what terrorism implies as promoted by Israel and the Zionist lobby. Then, a bloody confrontation will be waged between the East and the West. Rather such clash would take place between the West and Islam which will not be in the interest of any one or of the human civilization at large.

Well done was the statement released by the US president ! When G. W. Bush openly declared his support of setting up a Palestinian state, he was the first American president ever to adopt this stance. Yet, it is the maiden step in the one-thousand-mile road.
Nevertheless, Washington should not repeat the same fault of carrying on its foreign policy with foggy vision and fluid stances. Bush's declaration, despite its important significance, would not be effective unless being practically followed by definite plan and obvious strategy to turn such utterances into facts on the spot.
Over and above, the Bush administration, if really serious, should give off the state-terrorism policy followed by Sharon's government that imagines it can stage a war which fully ends the legitimate claim of the Palestinian legal rights to have their own independent state.

ARTICLES AND COMMENTARIES
Mubarak and the Egyptian renaissance
The program of political and economic reform introduced by President Mubarak two decades ago began a period of comprehensive national revival and unprecedented social stability. It is a program that differs markedly from its counterparts in other third world countries. The process of democratization and economic deregulation in Egypt was very carefully staged, allowing the ground to be well-prepared for successive phases. Egypt thereby averted any serious disruption to social cohesiveness of the type experienced, for example, in Eastern European countries.
Egypt's reform process has been a dynamic experience that has placed Egypt among the ranks of emerging nations. The progress we have achieved under Mubarak's leadership has been profuse and manifold. Consider, in the realm of expanding democratic freedoms, that we now have 16 political parties whereas in 1981 there were only six.
President Mubarak has added his personal stamp to political plurality through his frequent meetings with political party leaders in order to acquaint himself with their views on crucial issues.

ME peace tied to anti-terrorism war
In his keynote speech to mark the anniversary of October 1973 victory, President Mubarak renewed emphasis on Egypt's deep-rooted and unshakable principles and values. President Mubarak unequivocally stated in his messages to world leaders that what happened on June 05, 1967 will never be repeated and that Egypt is in a better position to give a hard lesson to anyone whoever thinks to launch an attack on Egyptian territory.
The Egyptian leader also stressed that peace in the Middle East should be just and comprehensive, and the legitimate owners of the land must be given back their legal rights. He made it clear that the Arabs should maintain unchallenged sovereignty on Moslem holy sites in Jerusalem.
Egypt calls for a fair sustainable solution to contain the cycle of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories. Hence, Mubarak duly warned that any frustrated and desperate people would eventually be driven to seeking revenge.
On this occasion, he urged the USA to adjust its attitude towards the Palestinian problem. While president Mubarak welcomed the recent statement by US president Bush, he stressed that consistent efforts be made towards the declaration of an independent Palestinian state which could as well guarantee stability and security for the Israeli people.
