Hundreds of Muslim women embarked on a peaceful demonstration in Kano, Tuesday, to express disapproval over the ongoing United States military strikes against Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Their spokesperson, Malama Halima Hayatu, who spoke to a BBC corres-pondent in Kano, described the U.S.
attacks on Afgh-anistan as "very unfor-tunate." She said the "attacks would serve no purpose besides increasing the suffering of the Afghan people who are already bedevilled by poverty and hunger."
She declared that "America and Britain had no evidence to prove that Osama bin Laden sponsored the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre (WTC) and Pentagon. Instead of them to conduct a thorough investigation into the issue before taking any action, the West has embarked on injustifiable attacks against defenceless Afghans."
Malama Halima averred that in any war, "it is women who suffer most."
It is therefore necessary for America and her allies to ensure that women and children do not become easy targets.
Her words: "We must condem this attacks because women are the ones that will suffer most. And America and her allies should be cautions in their unjust bombing of targets in Afghanistan."
