Sierra Leone: "I Will Present the People's Budget Friday" - Minister

Freetown — The Minister of Finance, Mr. Peter J. Kuyembeh Thursday told Concord Times that he would be presenting the "people budget" in parliament today.

Traditionally, the presentation of budget is always carried live on State radio.

This means people will glue on to their radio sets to listen to what the Minister has to offer.

Although he declined to comment on what he would present, the Minister noted that the budget for the year 2002 was prepared with the participation everybody.

"Everybody was involved in preparing the budget including businessmen and paramount chiefs," he said.

Concord Times gathered that for at least three weeks, the ordinary people were at the Ministry of Finance to work on the budget that is hoped to bring smiles to the faces of most poor and hungry Sierra Leoneans.

People who have been invited to attend the budget speech in parliament have been requested to be seated by 9:30a.m.

It is speculated that those who go late would be sent back home.

Kuyembeh took over the finance ministry after James Jonah resigned earlier this year.
