Uganda: Bernard Onyango Retires

The Registrar of Uganda Martyrs University Bernard Onyango has retired from the service of the university.

"We wish to thank and honour Onyango for his dedicated service while at Nkozi and also for his commitment to higher education in this country through out his career as registrar for the last forty years" Vice Chancellor Prof. Michel Lejeune said in a statement yesterday.

Onyango was also Academic Registrar Makerere University for thirty years before joining Uganda Martyrs where he has served for ten years.

Lejeune thanked Onyango for his exemplary service, which he said, is an inspiration to all Uganda.

"We pledged to remain committed to working towards fulfilling the mission of the University, we wish him a happy peaceful retirement" Lejeune said.

Onyango will be replaced by Stephen Bazirake.

A farewell party will be held in Onyango's honour this Saturday.
